New Squier Logo

Ugh, reminds me of this...

I had to look at it for a while before I spotted the difference. That may be more of a reflection of me than it though. But what if other people hate it?

Salesperson: "So what do you think?"

Traditionalist dude; "Sounds great, tight neck pocket and I like how the tuners seem pretty solid and the fit and finish is great. Not too heavy, love the neck. Most comfortable bass I've played in ages.
And that's pretty cheap. Thinking I could gig this and keep the Nash/MIA Fender/G&L/(insert name here) at home when I do festivals and street gigs. But that logo is just a deal breaker..."

Nah; can't see that happening too often...

I imagine many people were involved in this decision. Not to mention, how much has to be changed throughout the company, let alone in actual instrument production? Signs, letterheads, cards, PowerPoint logos, store displays...

All for a change which may likely make absolutely no difference whatsoever to anyone considering buying one of their instruments. I mean, you have to look closely to see the difference.

I doubt they would do all that.

There's only one real question that needs answered, and y'all know what that question is. The change, update, refresh, "upglow," whatever you want to call it, may have affected the ONE attribute that is absolutely CRITICAL amongst the TalkBass collective...

Weight?

(Does the "g" add significant weight? Is "Sguier" heavier than "Squier?" Talk about a deal breaker!!! ;))

That's exactly what I say about Sire basses.

In general I prefer the old one, the new one doesn’t feel as classy.
From a typist perspective, the curve of the S, especially the top half, doesn’t feel as elegant. It looks like it’s bending over to cover the q instead of aligned with the angle of the word. It feels separate.

The thickness of the u’s second line is different than both the preceding line and the subsequent line of the i. The new version has them all the same, which makes it less readable. It looks like a w.
