Source: Steelers, vet CB Peterson agree to deal
Hey Tomlin, you're only about 10 years behind on this guy. I have no doubt in my mind this guy is a buddy of Tomlin.
Let Sutton walk and drag in some washed up DB who's best years are years behind him. The standard is the standard.
Although I do love the excuse Peterson gave for missing Pro Bowls lately, no one is challenging him. :)

Not at all sure Sutton is worth the 33M/22.5M guaranteed that the Lions are paying him. Peterson may be a decent stopgap as long as they also draft a top CB. It depends on how much they paid for him. There's also talk that Peterson is versatile enough to provide depth at safety. We shall see....

The NFL is a fast game nowadays, lots of speedy WR and a long game. It's not a place for a 33 year old DB with 12 years on those legs.
Sutton is not a world beater, but it's a shame to see Pittsburgh again let a decent DB walk out the door for nothing.
Will they draft a decent DB someday? Maybe. They don't have a real DC or DB coach to develop him, so he'll get good on his own then the Steelers will tell him to pound sand when he wants to get paid and they'll probably resign Rod Woodson or William Gay to replace him.

Y'know, when I saw the list of free agents awhile back, I thought to myself, "Patrick Peterson??? Hasn't he been in the league about 12 years already??!" And the weird thing was that I thought, "Now just watch: The Steelers will probably go after him."

Here's hoping he still has two years left in the tank...

Patrick Peterson was always overrated IMHO. Here in Arizona, where he 'starred' for most of his career, I failed to see what the hype was about. Good player at times, but hardly a superstar. I'd always call him 'Toast', because he got burnt quite a bit. But the PR machine that created the hype kept right on churning, despite his play declining and him being less and less of a factor. Was very glad to see him leave.

Let's hope, but not that bad of a deal at 14 M/ 5.8 M guaranteed. Sutton is not a superstar.

Perhaps we're getting some insight into why Rodgers and the Packers decided it was time to move on. I don't picture anyone in the Green Bay front office accepting from Rodgers a wish list like that.

I hate to distract from the Rodgers bashing, but I'm pretty darn happy with what the Broncos have done so far. Solid right tackle Mike McGlinchy, solid left guard Ben Powers, a running back, Samaje Perine, who is an actual threat and can hold the fort for Javonte Williams as he returns from injury. The offensive line just grew up. New QB Jarrett Stidham is at the least a solid backup, and a possible future talent who already has a close relationship with the Broncos' new QB coach.

Add DE Zack Allen and I think they replaced a lost free agent on the D-line. TE Chris Manhertz is more of a blocker than a receiver, but the Broncos need a blocker for multiple tight end sets. Payton has been known to use 3 tight ends on some plays.

The O-line was pitiful last year, and I'm glad they recognized it and went after solid help. This year if they can't make plays work, it will be clear that it's the QB who is the problem. 2024 is a year in which they can drop Wilson with much less financial damage than if he's carried over to 2025.

Now that Aaron Rodgers expressed his love for the Jets and they've been busy signing players from his wish list, seems as though the Packers have the upper hand in the trade negotiations. They oughta be able to up their asking price for Aaron now.
