It’s hard not to be surprised by the Pats, but I probably shouldn’t be. Mike Vrabel was another fundamentals and attitude guy in Tennessee. I expected him to succeed in New England, but not necessarily this season.
Vrabel’s no surprise but his 2nd yr QB Drake Maye sure has been so far. I wouldn’t call the Browns defense easy, but Maye was able to rack up 30+ points in spite of 6 sacks.

Agreed on Rodgers.
Last week the lineman Jones fell on him on accident while celebrating a TD. Rodgers jumped up and was totally ticked at the guy and chewing him out. I get it, having a large man fall on you is not fun, but he's your teammate and you just got a TD. How about a little happiness.
The few drives I watched last night, Rodgers clearly doesn't want to be a Steeler and doesn't even look like he wants to play. I blame this on the Steelers, not Rodgers. Everyone knows Rodgers is a diva. Rodgers spent months dragging the free agent process out, and there stood the Steelers like a little puppy dog just begging for attention from Rodgers. I'm wondering which washed up QB they'll drag out of the mire next season. Maybe Jeff George?

I have no problem with Rodgers. He has shown he can still play. His body language last night shows he's fed up with his offensive line giving him 1.5 seconds to get rid of the ball, his receivers unable to get open and dropping catchable balls, the run game not helping him out and the defense crapping the bed. Of course, he should have know what he was getting into when he singed the contract.

It most certainly is Rodgers since we know it's not any fault of Tomlin. He always has his players prepared and ready to play especially on national TV.
By the way, anyone else notice that since TJ got paid, he's no longer that menacing unstoppable force?

I should have led with this. Congratulations to @mrpackerguy on the victory. That there was how you play NFL football in 2025. Granted, they were facing a team playing football from the 2010's which made it easier, but the Packers looked good.

-Mike
Thanks Mike! It was a tale of 2 halves. Maybe they'll put it together one of these games. I still think the Lions have the edge in our division

Well, look who TJ's coach is. He has to win 51% of pass rushes. No problem!

The thing with TJ is he lines up in the same spot and does the same thing every play. Other teams have figured out how to handle him. He's not the 100% beast he was, but it's not lack of effort. Heaven forbid they play him in a different spot on some plays to at least give the other team something to deal with.

Hey, don't go busting my wise-ass comments with logic and facts. Although the logic and facts explain why he's not mopping the floor with offensive linemen like he once was.

Yeah, a big contract doesn't necessarily lead to less effort or worse results. Micah Parsons has 6.5 sacks in 7 games--on pace for roughly 16 sacks this season. Just as important, Rashan Gary, the DE on the opposite side for the Pack, has 7.5 sacks--on pace for 18. Now Rashan Gary was already a good player, but he's never had more than 9.5 sacks in a season before playing opposiite Parsons.

Big contracts have led to guys easing off the gas pedal. Yep, you can find a name here and there to prove me wrong, but years of watching football like the rest of y'all has shown me once a guy gets his big payday, he doesn't always play like he did before he got it. These guys aren't crummy slackers, it's human nature. We work hard for a reward, and then we ease up once we have it. When the next reward is within reach, we pick up the pace to make sure we earn it.
TJ is still a good guy and he works hard for the Steelers, but he ain't the same dude as he was before he got paid. Is it because the other teams have finally figured him out and neutralized him? Maybe. I've only seen a few quarters of Steelers football this year and that stood out to me right away, he's not dominating games as he did. I wondered to myself a few times if he's hiding an injury.

TJ's 2021-2025 contract was 112 million so he's already been paid. If you watch much of Steelers games you see a guy who is angry and frustrated that he and the rest of the defense aren't getting the job done.

I do think the Steelers were foolish to pay that much for a player who has likely peaked, but that's all too common throughout the league, IMO.

I've been a huge Dolphins fan since I was a little kid and saw a dolphin on the helmet. In the first or second year they existed. I've seen the perfect season, Super Bowls, Marino era when they were really good but just not quite good enough. A ton of seasons lately that they start out pretty hot only to crush my hopes by mid season. But this team is embarrassing. Embarrassing!

As horrifically bad as the Dolphins are, all the praise for Baltimore’s supposed turnaround seems a little premature. The Ravens didn’t look any better than the Dolphins for significant stretches. I certainly didn’t see anything to suggest they’re any better than the Over the Hill Gang in Pittsburgh. Even if they do win the division, are they really more than a speed bump in the playoffs?

I did get a laugh from the great Al Michaels reminding Kirk Herbstreit that multiple teams have gone longer without a Super Bowl win than the Dolphins. Al is the best in the business, and it will be a shame when he retires.
