NHL 2008

With some health coming back to the Flyers....Holmgren placed Glen Metropolit and Ossi Vannanen on waivers to free up some cap space to get Danny Briere back in the lineup. Both Metro and Vannanen are meh role players and shouldn't be missed too much. I had a feeling that both would go. Vannanen isn't a very solid D-Man and Metro has only posted 11 points through 55 games. I sorta liked Metro, but that is how things go I guess.

They can be claimed by another team or reassigned to the AHL should they not be claimed.

Not much time left till the trade deadline and I think that this is about all we will see out of the Flyers.

Last night was against the Kings a goaltender duel; like the previous time these two teams met. Not much to report about except that Martin Biron recorded his 25th career shutout. Good way to restore confidence in himself going down the stretch.

I'm starting to have hope in both Niitty and Biron. I see glimmers of life in an otherwise average season for Biron. and Niitty has been pretty good. Not sure if he is a clutch goalie though. I see Biron as #1 headed to the playoffs.

Sharks lost their 9th game.
They won't beat the 8 losses record in on season , record established by Montreal in 1977.

Imagine , Montreal did that record wihout the overtime win......:smug:

caps win. good showing from the young goaltender Neuvirth in only his second NHL game. He didn't face a lot of shots, but none of the 3 goals were really his fault and he showed good poise and rebound control.

I wonder if the caps can pick up a solid D man by the trade deadline. They picked up Kronwall on waivers from Toronto and have 8 D men on the roster now. Might be in the market to make a move. Pronger or JayBo would be nice but they don't have enough cap room and I doubt GM George McPhee wants to give up enough young prospects or draft picks to get either of those guys.

WooHoo!!!! OT win in Chicago last night, even without Sid.

The new guy, Kunitz, scored a goal and had an assist. Satan got into the action, maybe he is fearful of losing some ice time. Gonchar was making plays on both ends of the ice. That was great to see.

Yeah!! Yeah!!! Yeah!!! What a turn-a-round in a week.

We smoked the Stars in Dallas tonight, and that now puts us as the #8 seed in the East. Let's see if we can hold on down the stretch.

Hate to say I told you so.........

Yeah I wouldn't count the Pens out just yet. They may not get home ice advantage but they could eek their way into a playoff spot. <snip>

See....

Preds always seem to play the Wings well. Other teams... :o

Home games against them make you wonder if you're in Detroit because there are so many red jerseys in the stands. There are a bunch of auto worker transplants because of the Saturn/Nissan plants here.

My 14yo son's team just won the Nashville youth hockey championship last week. This is his first year on ice (inline player) and he really likes it. This kid might not...
:ninja:

Only thing Ad had to say about it after the game was, "he tripped me." I think he got the better end of the deal.

Anyone else see Hossa get popped tonight? He left the ice on a stretcher, that was scary. I sure hope he is OK. All early reports say he is fine. He waved to the crowd as he left the ice, and never lost consciousness.

In other news.....we're on a roll!!!! Three in a row now, including what I think is a big win in Tampa.

The Satan experiment is now over. We waived him today.

Didn't see what happened to Hossa....Check? Puck to the Face?

Also wanted to share highlights of the Flyers v. Hubs game.

I wasn't so sure we were going to win this one especially after being shut out by the Devils. Bergeron scored first for the B's and they continued to play good through the first 2 periods even thought Upshall tied it up in the 2nd. Flyers added 3 more goals in the 3rd.

It definitely had a bit of a playoff atmosphere with lots of good hitting on both sides of the puck and between whistle antics (watch the highlights)

Niitty's save on Krejci (sp?) was flippin sweet.

Chara Flattens my boy Mike Richards

The powerplay clicked on a few goals which is something Philly has been lacking the past few weeks.

The Uphsall goal was hard individual effort. Perhaps he's trying to keep his spot on the team with the trade deadline approaching. The remaining 3 by the Flyers; including the Gagne deflection, were pretty goals.
