NHL 2013 post season thread!

Are there enough people on the west coast interested in the BOS/PIT series to justify these 8:30PM EDT start times? I know it says 8:00PM, but that's for all the talking heads to start talking.

Chicago has something special going on. It was cool to see Crawford step in when Clifford started roughing up Toews.

A couple of posts were hit because there was no room between Rask and the post; but a couple were hit when there was room. B's will need some puck luck even if they continue to play well to win this thing and I'll happily accept all the luck the puck gods wish to bestow on the Bruins.

I didn't see the game misconduct as a joke. Given Cooke's history especially against the B's, I'd say it was good officiating. Maybe against another team or in a later game in this series, that is just a hard boarding, but not against the B's and not in the first game of what is likely to be 6 or 7 games.

Much has been made here in Boston that Pittsburgh seemed to lose focus/show frustration at the end of the second and it hurt the Pens - especially having Malkin out while they were on a powerplay. Did that storyline get any play in Pittsburgh or are we seeing what we hope to see?

Even if there is something to that angle, I suspect that the Pens are capable of refocusing on what is important.

Any calls for Fleury to be back in goal?

I dont know about the interest in the BOS/PIT on the coast, but I agree 100% about Chicago - they are looking very good.

Only people calling for Fleury are dumb media trolls trying to get exposure and bandwagon fans. Vokoun played pretty well. First goal was a fluke (hard to adjust to a last second skate deflection) and it wasn't his fault the Pens didn't score.

Seems most of Pittsburgh is pretty calm right now. Either team could have won that game, and Pens got plenty of offensive chances. They'll hopefully make some adjustments and put some pucks in the net tonight.

Now, if Boston wins tonight, expect lots of panic :P

I was having flashbacks to the Philly series from last year. I hope it doesn't go that way for the rest of the series. I'd like to think the additons of Iginla and Morrow will keep the team more level headed when the going gets tough.

I was very unhappy with Malkin for starting that fight. Sure it took Bergeron off the ice too, but come on already, play the game of hockey and leave that kind of garbage off the ice.

Thanks for the insight. FWIW, if the result of Game 1 was reversed, most Boston fans would already be in panic mode. Right now, I'm in "the first game was too good to be true, but that's OK - don't wake me up" mode.

It will be interesting what adjustments the Pens make and whether the B's can adjust to the adjustments (and so on) on the fly. It is one of the things that makes best of 7's so cool.

He should've been penalized.

Otherwise, insert a rule making it impossible for goalies to be physically involved unless they remove their masks.

Ganging up behind a guy isn't exactly something I admire. Neither is hiding behind all that padding while doing it.

It's no secret I always thought Fleury was a seriously overestimated goalie. Vokoun is much better. I know how steady he can be since I watched him a lot when he was in Florida. He's solid... unlike Fleury.

I know this isn't exactly the right thread, but did yall hear about the Aeros? :'(

I'm a huge hockey fan.. less now than I used to be.. but I especially follow the Aeros because they're from Houston, even if they are only a farm club. I was super excited to hear that they'd be part of the new NHL expansion, so you can imagine my heartbreak when I found out the Toyota Center screwed them.

While I don't disagree with you, remember this: Toews DID get a penalty on that same play that he didn't deserve. He never fought back or threw a punch. Just got popped in the face a couple times. Crawford probably SHOULD have gotten one but didn't, so it pretty much evened out.

Sorry to hear that - it is disappointing to lose a team no matter how it goes down. Houston had pretty good attendance for an AHL team.

Haha, the Pens are a joke. I hope Boston hangs three more on Fleury.

No excuses tonight Pens. Boston showed up to play so far, you haven't. Can they score four goals on Rask tonight? Not likely.

If I turned the game on right now and had no idea what the score was, I'd think Boston was losing based on how hard they are playing. Pittsburgh looks like they are in cruise control. I wonder how Iginla feels right now. :)
