Caps at Pens over here. Fleury is looking good in the first. Surprisingly, Ovechkin is having a good aggressive game ten minutes in.

Steve Ott got moved up to the 1st line tonight, with Pommer and Hodgson. Vanek moved to the 2nd to help spark Hecht and Stafford.
The Ott move seems to have worked... he's got the only goal of the game so far!

He got railed on the hip by a shot a few min ago. Went to the locker room. Not cool.
No argument from me. The guy's ego was insanely big and he had nothing to back it up, either.
I'm voting Paul MacLean coach of the year. Another player lost to injury, Michalek this time, and the team comes back from being down 3-1 to win tonight 5-3. Sure, it's the Islanders but still an impressive win in my mind.
It sure was great seeing Gonchar with a big goal in that game. I miss having him on the Pens. One of the few mistakes Shero has made, letting him go, in my opinion.

They only lost 8 games in the whole season. I'd give them a break. 
The Habs got points in 17 of their last 18 games. Pretty crazy.
The Hawks got through their first 2-game losing streak of the season by winning the next 3 games. Emery is still unbeaten. That team has been on fire all season long.

Pens on a 10 game winning streak. First team to ever have 10+ game winning streaks 3 seasons in a row. Arbitrary statistic, but interesting nonetheless.
Kings are 11/last 12 at home. Is that good for anything?
We have Stars then Canucks this week then off to Chicago. Hopefully give the 'nucks some bruises & black eyes! Anyone recall browns hit on sedin last year? Took him out of the game.

Kings are rolling well right now, and playing good hockey, but they haven't been playing many of the top-of-the-heap guys. That said, take every win you can get!
It is a combination of things and not all things are present in every game.
In almost every game, they are not adding goals, the first Pens game was the first 2-goal league I remember them coughing up (there may have been others) and that was mostly a case of 2 goals is not enough against the Pens.
The second Pens game was more typical where there is a one goal lead - not safe against anyone, especially not the Pens.
Against the Jets (they are not the Pens, but they are a very good team), the B's lost a veteran d-man in the first quarter. And they had an AHL call-up centering for Horton and Lucic replacing Krecji. Spooner may end up being a solid top six forward in the NHL some day, but very few players are top six from the get-go.
Part of it is puck luck. And I mean that in the sense, that puck luck tends to even out over a season and the B's were the beneficiaries early on (winning a lot of these 2-1; 3-2 games, with great saves and/or goals bouncing off of sticks/bodies/posts) and lately seem to be on the short end. Same with injuries, every team gets them, and some teams get hit worse than others. The B's had been pretty lucky in the early part of the season with injuries and now are sliding back toward the norm.
None of the above is any different than what any other team either has either gone though already, is going through now, or will go through before the season ends.
The question is will the B's work through it? I think they will if only because they have worked through a few things already this season - adjusting to Rask and Khudobin, instead of Thomas and Rask; the power play has improved over the past few weeks from dreadful to slightly below league average (I'd insert a smilie for somersaults if I had one); the first and third lines were starting to find their scoring touch and the coach was putting more faith (and getting good results) from his fourth line.
The shortened season has made nearly every regular season game seem like a playoff game which is a great education for our younger players like: Khudobin, Hamilton, Caron and now Spooner. Julien will have a better idea of what to expect from them when the actual playoffs start.
I'm not sure I would put too much stock in an analysis that only put 1 Bruin on the top 10 list of dirty players. I demand a recount.
Lucic's running into Miller last year was dirty; he didn't try hard enough to avoid Miller. The stat nerd in me is wondering if there might be a slight chance that play may have been in the back of that bloggers mind when he developed his criteria as to what constituted a dirty player.
However, the penalties he's picked up this year were more in the category of good old-fashioned enforcement on opponents who took liberties with our smaller guys without getting a penalty or Lucic is so big, some of his clean hits look dirty to a ref and he gets called for stuff that little guys get away with.
