Friggin' Flyers cement-head Gudas...lays out the Devils' Palmieri, leaving his feet to deliver a complete cheap shot. Palmieri was nowhere near the puck, not looking in his direction, and this clown jumps and blindsides him. Ought to get 10 games for that BS stunt.

Props to Travis Zajac for stepping up later on to tangle with Gudas. No clear winner, but at least Gudas ended up on his back.

Rumors have McEvoy possibly returning this Saturday. Not sure if the Little Ball of Hate has 2 or 3 games left. They definitely miss his scoring and hustle to help put teams away.

The Caps are hot after a lackluster start while the Pens are on a nice roll themselves. Two teams going in the right direction. I'm sure the Pens would love to win, but even if they don't tonight, they'll beat the Caps when it really matters.

Okay, I'm a Flyers fan. But I didn't see this like you did. I watched it live, and many times on replay. Gudas had skated through the slot, and all of a sudden sees his teammate, Wayne Simmonds directly in his path. Gudas jumped into the air trying to avoid hitting Simmonds. I don't think he even SAW Palmieri until he was in the air.

Gudas has made some dirty plays in his career, but I don't think this was one of them.

But my main beef with this one is Gudas' reputation coupled with him leaving his feet and the position of his stick, which is head-high and parallel to the ice. Maybe not 100% intentional, but certainly he could have 'accidentally' plowed into Palmieri by leading with his shoulder, keeping his stick down, and staying on the ice. But no suspension has been issued, so I guess I'm in the minority on this one.

There's no doubt that Gudas's reputation precedes him. But IF you accept the premise (and I know you don't) that he left his feet to avoid smashing into his teammate Simmonds, it renders the fact that he then hit Palmieri moot. Once you're in the air, it's hard to change your path.

Gudas has been penalty free for 21 games. He hasn't even taken a minor one since the 10 game suspension. It seems he has been towing the line. It's a contact sport for sure, and no-one likes to see cheap shots, but I'm with Jeff on this one. It looked to me like he was as surprised with the contact as Palmieri was. Look at the body language just after the contact.

I'm no Gudas fan, but that's what I noticed, he didn't emphatically deny innocence or start pleading his case. He really seemed to be "crap, I didn't mean that to happen".
But who knows.
And he should keep his nose clean, he loses about $40k per game for suspensions.

Bruins up 2-1 over the Wings on their last Marchand-free game. Their first goal was from Kuraly, his first in about 14,000 games; they're continuing their trend of getting good production from fourth-liners and other young guys.

I'm surprised by the Pens tonight. I could only watch through the 2nd, but the effor they were putting in then was pretty apparent. If the Pens end up going the whole way for the Cup, I imagine it'll be VGK they'll be seeing one more time.
