NHL Season 2018-19

A 20 game suspension and losing $1,260,162.60 of his salary will hopefully stop Tom Wilson from those cheap shots.

If he wasn't on my favorite team I'd hate him to. But he is. Funny thing is though, just like last year, we saw other players lay hits out worse than some of his hits and didn't even get a 2 minute minor. But it is what it is and here we go.

"Thank you, from the bottom of our collective hearts, thank you," said owner Ted Leonsis to the fans. "Our players delivered the Stanley Cup because they love and respect you."

I've heard nice things about the Caps owner, but this load of crap is cracking me up.

He seems like a good guy. Took tons of crappolla over the years for not getting the Caps past the second round but it's tough to a championship, in any sport.

Just the ones who celebrate the 7th goal of a blowout in front of the opponents' bench. Perhaps Eller didn't mean anything with that little hand wave gesture but he did it a second time as he skated by the Bruins bench. Should have re-thought that one, Lars. Enjoy your headache, courtesy of Mr. Marchand.

Watched about half of the Toronto-Montreal game. All I can say is it looked like Toronto was closer to mid-season form than any other team last night. Marner was flying.

Except the Caps, of course. A touchdown and extra point to start off the season.

So that's ok in todays NHL but not a hard hit at center ice. Got it

Fixed that for ya. Don't even start trying to defend Tom Wilson and his history here.
Blind side? LOL They were skating toward each other. If whatshisname wasn't skating with his head down like he was on a first date in the park Wilson would have still clocked him but at least he would have seen it coming. Blindside, HA

Looks like Wilson's shoulder is on Sunqvist's shoulder. Yes Sunqvist's head does slam into Wilson making it a head shot but like I said before, I've seen worse that got no penalty at all. But it is Wilson and he does have a history so again, it is what it is.

We'll agree to disagree, even though pics 2 & 3 show him facing away from Wilson as he approaches. Matt Cooke, Dustin Brown, Nazem Kadri, and a dozen of others have all been suspended for the exact same hit...it's nothing new. Certainly not new to Wilson, either.

Ok, let's not waste any more time on whether or not poor Tom Wilson is a marked man. You yourself stated in post #128 that you'd hate him too if he wasn't on your team.

We're one game into the season. Only 81 more to go plus playoffs. Me being a lifelong Pens fan, we'll have plenty more to debate and disagree on over the next 6 months. Starting tonight. Game On!

Looked a whole lot like Scott Stevens' hit on Lindros that virtually ended his career. Of course back then, everybody lauded Stevens and said Lindros deserved it because his head wasn't up. Stevens made a career with hits just like that.

I with you there my friend. It's a tough, fast, emotional sport. My favorite sport to watch. Used to be football but it's slow as molasses in comparison since I started watching hockey about ten years ago. Pens fan huh? Great team, who I hate because they're so good.

Jeff...I was thinking of that one and Stevens' hit on Kariya, too. As much as disliked the arrogant Lindros I still remember feeling sick to my stomach seeing him laying there on the ice like that.

What's interesting is that during this past summer's HOF induction ceremony, Lindros came across as very humble and thankful, and in interviews even alluded to how he was difficult and immature in his younger days. I respect that. Funny thing, too, is I barely remember him playing in Dallas or Toronto...just Philly and NYR.
