NHL Season 2019-20

For whatever reason, they just do not play well when in the state of Florida, whether it's the Bolts or the Cats. Long history of losing in the Sunshine State. And unfortunately they did nothing to change that last night.

That rings familiar to us Leaf fans as well...

I remember the early days of expansion when the LA Kings first came into the NHL. Visiting teams from the snow belt would go out there and players would go deep-sea fishing and surfing and other outdoor stuff and end up sunburned and worn-out tired by the time the game started. Advantage, Kings.

Can't even begin to understand the Flyers. They get shut out at home the other night against the lowly Devils, 5-0. So tonight they go into D.C. and give the Caps a 7-2 drubbing. Go figure...

Pens get the split in Florida, bouncing back to win against the Panthers after the loss to the Lightning.
I know @MJ5150 might not agree , but Jack Johnson actually played a pretty solid game, and made some nice defensive plays, including the last-second thwarting of a semi-breakaway. Jarry had a decent game, too, with some late point-blank saves preserving the win.

Now they play the Lightning again tomorrow night, this time at home.

Jim Rutherford got his man, Jason Zucker. The guy he tried to get last year until Phil Kessel said he won't play in Minnesota.
Is this the missing piece for the Pens to win the SC, a left winger who can score? No, I do not believe Zucker is the missing piece.
Rutherford apologists will always follow up with a comment about how more moves are in store. Yes, I believe that. Moves to make moves is what they'll be.

Exactly. If Guentzel isn't the guy who would be the difference in bringing a Cup, Zucker certainly isn't gonna do it either. In other words, they'd have a better chance with a healthy Guentzel than a healthy Zucker, IMO. It's a decent trade as far as getting rid of the non-producing Galchenyuk, although I feel a first rounder AND a top prospect were a bit much. But the good thing is Zucker IS a top-six forward, and he has three years left on his contract. Not like this is a rental.

Bad timing on the Zucker trade as the Pens also found out Marino is out 3-6 weeks. That loss is going to be a big one. Even though he's just a rookie he's been playing well.

I wasn't too familiar with the prospect they gave up but from what I've gleaned he is basically another Letang...not too big (5'10"), another offensive puck-moving Dman with some defensive liabilities. Marino is in a similar vein, so perhaps they thought they could afford to give up Addison. Sucks about Marino being out for such a long time though.

Later report said he was alert and talking going to hospital.
I would say sorry about the Bolts winning in OT(2nd night in a row), but I'd be lyin'. "Ain't no way to hide my lyin' eyes"

Talk about a rotten five-minute span in my life...Both my Pens and Yotes each take their games to OT...my remote button flipping between the two channels is getting warm. Saw the Yotes score the game-winner, immediately turned back to the Pens OT where they barely let TB touch the puck for the first few minutes. Flipped back to see the refs standing around in Toronto, where they got a little home cooking from the officials. Looked to me that Stepan was fully in the white, and Campbell was clearly leaning out of the blue paint, but the call went against the Yotes, which fired up the Leafs and led to their OT winner. That happened just mere moments after the Pens' complete lack of defense allows the Bolts to come down 2-on-1 and score a easy game-winner there. Two games my teams let slip away. Needless to say there were a couple of back-to-back F-bombs uttered out loud.

Do not think the call was made due to the initial contact with Stepan, it was right at the edge of the crease and did look incidental. But the shove after the first bump was a bit too obvious. Even notorious Leaf hater Kerry Fraser would have made that call.

Remember a season or two ago when they had the most back-to-back games in one season? I guess the schedule-makers are trying to even things out this season. But boy, it does seem like they've had lots of time between games lately.

The weird thing is that both Florida teams have always been a thorn in the Flyers collective side. I anticipate a solid whuppin' by the Lightning on Saturday when the Flyers skate into Tampa...

Interesting dynamic going on, firing him as the Wild have recently gone 7-3-1 and were seemingly getting in line for a playoff berth. Just can't understand why NOW, and not a month or two ago? But regardless of who the GM is in Minnesota, that organization is known for some head-scratching moves.
