Yeah, and once again they lose while giving up a touchdown and an extra point. :D But if there's any good news at all, they scored 5 goals in the loss. They've only been scoring 1 (or 2 on a "good" night) for awhile now. :eek:

But something had to be done. I hope they can right the ship going forward. The hole they're in this year is too deep to recover from (especially in the Metro Division); but hoping for better things next year and beyond.

The injury bug has hit the Leafs. Mariner and Sandin are out for what looks like the next couple of weeks. Spezza has a hearing with the NHL today to determine how long he will be suspended for his hit on Sunday night.
This will be the test they need to see how resilient they truly are.

Yup. will be quite interesting. Have to kind of wonder what's going on in the room, Marner's shoulder injury came on an in practice hit from Muzzin.

After last spring's abysmal playoff performance by the Pens' Tristan Jarry, it was quite a shock to see him listed second on NHL Now EJ Hradek's list of Vezina candidates. But the truth is Jarry IS playing at such a level that many Pens fans are glad GM Hextall stood pat and didn't move him or replace him. (So far at least. If we see another playoff choke like last season then we'll be singing a different tune, of course.)

The league has postponed all cross border games until Monday of next week. It seems that covid has hit almost every team pretty hard or is about to.
Questions surround the likelihood of NHL players being able to go to China for the upcoming games, Bettman has left that up to the players as of now, but with the Chinese rules surrounding positive covid tests (a positive test will require that person to isolate for 2-4 weeks in China!) the players are hesitant to agree as that may cost them a months worth of salary.
With covid running rampant around the world, the players don't seem to be too interested in losing money, to play.

I hope things settle down soon. Watching the predators play with the entire coaching staff and 7 players out for covid was interesting. Of course Colorado was in worse shape and only had 14 skaters. they were down to 4 defenseman to start. At one time the avs had 2 of the 4 defense man in the box. they had to roll their PK lines with 2 forwards and a defenseman. Crazy stuff.

I'm not a big fan of postponing games, but I would hate to see a team miss the playoffs because they were decimated by covid and still had to play games. I feel the league is doing the right thing by putting games on hold.

The league could continue on just fine with short benches. They'll just have to make the entire game 3-on-3 instead of just the OT. :D

Expect an announcement shortly saying that the NHL and the Player Association have agreed to take a pass on the upcoming Olympics. The league will use the three weeks they opened up in the schedule for the Olympics to catch up on games missed and it looks like there will be a lot of them!
I find it fascinating watching games being played both here in Canada and in the USA. No fans in Montreal last week and arenas filled to capacity south of the border. What a remarkable time to be alive.

That would be a great idea...actually shocked that logic and common sense are being used here, and they're being proactive in thinking this out ahead of time. Nobody wants the SC Finals in September again.

My conspiratorial guess is that more players are passing on going than the league wants us to know, and they don't want a team full of third liners representing our countries. ;)
