NPD: SA Aftershock

So, got my unit fixed up (bad switch) and had some time with it...

Loving, loving, LOVING this pedal. The Tube sound is so great but I've been tripping out to the sounds available via the Neuro app....WOW! Great stuff. I've been missing the MWBD that I sold last year so I'm so glad there's foldover for me to mess with. So many great sounds for me to play with.

I'm still messing with it all (have the Neuro hub connected via MIDI to my Boss ES-8) and I've been trying to figure out how to save "up to 128 effect presets" (okay, not all 128 but there are at least 20 sounds I want to save). I'm assuming it's via a connection to the Hub, but again I'm still messing with things. Any advise would be appreciated....

We're pleased to hear you're loving AfterShock and Neuro App! Thanks for letting us know. :D

For your setup, I suggest using the following steps for creating new Hub scenes:
Select an ES-8 patch, and configure a new MIDI PC# to be sent to your Hub.
Dial in your desired sounds for pedals connected to the Hub using their hardware or the Neuro App.
Hold down the Hub's Save button.
The next time the ES-8 sends that PC#, that Hub preset will be recalled with your sounds.

Is there some sort of reference on how to get some awesome tones out of this?
There's heaps of presets sure, but not many upload their stuff – I'd love to know what people are using for their light grit and grindy drive.

I ask because I get pretty lost tweaking – in fact my legs normally go numb once get going so not getting too far down the rabbit whole might be a good option.

The rabbit hole is one of the great things about this pedal. But you can still keep it simple and get tons of useable tones. Not sure if you're using the neuro app but its very easy to use and there are plenty of great starting points there. You don't have to tweak a thing...just connect to the app and select any one of the listed tones (remember, you can also select LA Lady and Kingmaker tones). I prefer the sounds uploaded by people on the web more than the factory sounds (Nathan Navarro has some killer tones uploaded which I've used as the starting point for most of my personal presets). If you find one you like, simply save it to the pedal and then you can use the knobs on the pedal to change things (or not).

I think Source Audio stuff sometimes seems a lot harder to use then it really is. Give yourself 30 uninterrupted minutes to just dive into some of the uploaded sounds and give yourself a chance to see just how much versatility you've got access to. Even if heavy distortion or fuzz isn't your thing, there's plenty of clean drive options and if you ever decide to go a step further and use the app to edit tones, you can customize to your hearts content.

Couldn't agree more - I really do love the depth this thing has, I just am terrible at making decisions!

More wondering what people's "recipes" were.

I think the stock presets work well and are worth the price of the pedal as is. The cool thing is someone like me who enjoys experimenting with lots of sounds has the option to do so. That's always been my draw to SA stuff. Using the Series one pedals with a hub and midi mouse makes it pretty simple to save nuanced scenes which have made a huge difference in my live sound. Also makes a big difference in my home sound as I can get lost for hours layering loops and just generally playing off the cuff.

Sorry if I’ve missed this elsewhere - anyone know of any good collection of Muse sounds / user-made presets? This is of course leaving aside me buying several amps, animato, muff, woolly mammoth, mastotron, deep impact, etc. There’s one called “Muzze” in the Neuro app that works well for me after some tweaking but there seem to be many “colors” of Muse sounds beyond this one.

As I recall, @adamaarts did some?
