NPD: SA Aftershock

I think one issue could be that if you have a high gain patch, and program that in to the red mode, touching the level knob can cause a huge jump in volume if the physical position is a lot higher than the programmed level.
None of this is an issue for me, as I only use green mode now. I have 3 presets that are all set with the same level knob position.

Oh yeah, I could see that being an issue.

What you describe is exactly the point of normal (green mode). What you see is what you get, always.
So, you want preset mode (red mode) to act like green mode so that you get 6 green mode presets. Right?

Yes, exactly. Thanks for checking either way.

Also, another thing that may not be possible, but has SA considered adding a master volume per preset?

It is worth understanding the history of "red mode". Originally, it was to be a ONE "favorite" preset such as some of our competitors have. But then our early customers said: please add 3 red presets. So, it kind is the way it is based on where it came from. Changing it is a massive piece of work, and some people do not want that. Having it be an option is lots of work.

Understandable, and if you guys haven’t received this request from lots of others I’d totally understand it not even being considered- it’s always worth checking though :)

Is it possible to reprogram the three green stock presets to something different?

I would try but I’m not at home at the moment... If anyone does try, you may want to export the stock preset files so you can reload them later if you want (though I suppose a factory reset would do the trick as well).

Yes you can- it’s an option in the app.

That’s exactly the problem I have with the red mode.

Thats a pretty cool idea. I also like how the VTbass deluxe gives you an indication via flashing lights of how close/away you are getting to where the knob is actually set. I believe it goes solid once the knob is at the point of where it was programmed.

On the Strymon timeline when adjusting a knob on a preset the status light goes amber but when it matches the value originally saved on the preset it goes green so you can find your way back if you need to.

For science!!!
I did a fast and sloppy loop to reconfigure my drive settings on the aftershock and dialed in four different eq settings with the "programmable eq"

Enjoy:

(Sorry for the slight "noise" in the signal that comes with the second example.....that happens when the Aftershock is connected via USB to the pc....i forgot to unplug :/)

I did a new preset for my Aftershock the other day and was experimenting with the programmable EQ right after it, for scooping the mids a bit. I usually used a sansamp for this but ( what a surprise!) the programmable EQ does it waaaaay better ;)

For science, i did a playalong to a song of my own band with the new setup:

Couldn’t check out the video yet, but this reminds me of a question I’ve been meaning to ask...

I haven’t been in the software for a few weeks but I believe there’s a Drive Balance parameter that adjusts whether the EQ is before or after the drive, do any of you know which setting is for which (IE is CCW or 0 pre-drive with CW or 255 being post-drive)?

I've been curious about Drive Balance as well. Can anyone clarify if it is indeed controlling the placement of the EQ, and/or what the settings actually are?

Bummer....my new Aftershock is DOA (switch not clicking, center light doesn't stay on). Was so looking forward to hearing this pedal through my setup. So what do I do? Contact SA or Prymaxe where I bought it?
