I was running mine towards the end of my chain, just before my Rusty Box & B7K Ultra. It really tightened up the low end when I was playing my 4003 w/ the onboard “vintage capacitor” engaged..

NPD Southampton Ictineo

So running it in front of dirt... I originally put the Ictineo dead last but recently moved it to be closer to the front with dirt after it, and I think I like that more so far.
I found the Ictineo more effective before dirt as well, made more sense to pump the EQ’d signal through my preamps rather than run its EQ post-drive!
I generally placed it last on my board but it keeps coming off to go recording since so much of what I do calls for no effects or effects can be added in the mix stage.
I brought the Ictineo to my band practice tonight and plugged it in at the end of my pedalboard going straight into my Aguilar TH500 Effects Return. It easily drove the power amp to the volumes we needed, and sounded super clear and punchy with my Jazz bass. It really sounded fantastic. I ended up close to the "SVT" settings, but with both the Tone and Body knobs turned a bit closer to 12:00 from their respective settings. And I was running it with the Boost on. Volume on the pedal was at 9:00-10:00ish driving the power amp to decent rehearsal volumes. Sounded great.
Re-reading my posts from 2017 when I first got this pedal. Wishing I had more opportunity to mess around with different rig configurations these days. Not jamming nearly as much as I was back then.
It’s still a very new pedal for me still and I definitely have the excitement about it’s magic on my board. With all the preamp pedals these days, it’s like having an arsenal of different amps and voicing to choose from in a stomp or 2. Some have popped up at almost giveaway prices here and there...that’s what motivated me to give it a try and it has become a definite staple right away.

i dig mine. since it's capable of so many variable nice tones, i makes it a little more difficult for me to decide which one i want.
please share your settings (unless it is your secret secret sauce, in which case...the sounds I can hear, but the secret, she's a'yours - at least give us a clip so we can try to reverse engineer it
). I've explored some of the suggested tones and once I discovered the clean SVT, I have not left that setting, but when I was exploring the options I couldn't get it to sound not amazing.
After a brief hiatus it's back on my very small board, so that's saying something. But I'm not really using it as a preamp right now, more of a "tone enhancer" effect. Even when set close to flat/unity with what's coming in, I just love the polish it puts on the sound.
I have it after my overdrives and compressor, and right before my Broughton Studio One at the end of my chain.

Three switches set to SUB, bottom left switch to 600hz boost.
Tone between 8 and 11 o’clock,
Body between noon and 4 o’clock,
Depending on the bass. That’s my jam.
Fuuuuuu...that DOES sound good. Then again I’ve yet to get a bad sound. Your setting is actually like a secret sauce to me as it adds just that little something. A bit of a low end sparkle or sweetener if you will. Diggin it hard...thanks for sharing!
Seriously....It's a problem! I do prefer the 250 hz cut by itself, or the 1k boost with the left toggle on Sub.
It's a knob twiddler for sure!
I use the "SVT " setting but with the 1000hz boost, cut a through a mix like nothing else...
I would suggest Southampton consider also offering the Submarine as well as the Ictaneo both are very useful tools and not just for bass, they really do make everything just sound better - Sonic Burnish!
My Ictineo is on its way. Just picked one up in the classifieds for a fair price so I'm not taking too much of a risk. I say "risk" because I once had a submarine. Not the designer with all the switches but the yellow one with just the two knobs I think. I hated it. It was so incredibly noisy that I couldn't use it. So of course the sound was horrible as well. Then again, it had so much hiss, who knows what it sounded like. But I was reading about this one, reading everyone's thoughts and praise and got interested again.
