First of all please excuse me if this thread is not the right place to ask the following questions.

I'm after a second hand B.C. Rico Eagle bass, not a typo, the headstock says "B.C.Rico" and would like to know on which details I should check before buying it to be sure it's original. I'm not sure if these basses have been counterfeited or not. The price seems to be ridiculously low. Around 250 Euros.

From the sole photo available it looks exactly the same as the other posted here.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

BC Rich did have a BC Rico series/brand of instruments. So that wouldnt be a determining factor as to its authenticity.
If you want to know what is original, post some pictures if you can.
The picture you posted would be consistant with the Rico Eagles I have seen or have on file.

For that price you should get it. I think you will be happy with it.

Ricos were the first imports made, the owner of B.C.Rich was called Bernardo Rico, so he decided to use his last name on the imports to differentiate between the imports and USA handmades, this pissed the Rico Reeds company off, and they threatened to sue, Bernie had the name changed then, to save paying his Lawyer.
The bass was made in Japan, most likely in 1982 :)

Sorry. I wasn't clear with the question. Not being native english speaker is tricky sometimes. :)

I'd read about the import models naming. My question was about if those japanese Ricos have been victim of counterfeit as Fender or Gibson models made illegaly in China i.e...

If that is not the case I will go for it. The seller lives near me so I can check it in person.

Thanks.

I have never seen a Rico forgery, why would they bother, when the build process is so close to the USA handmades, they would forge them, and get way more money ;)
