With how Homer handled reporting Pronger's issues; I'm resigned to not trust what Flyers brass have to say about injuries.

Don't get me wrong,....I don't mind that there isn't any trust there,...because to be honest,...we fans don't really have any right to full disclosure with injuries,...it's just a little disappointing to say the least.

I suspected that it was worse than they originally implied. He was quite literally blind-sided and had no idea that impact was coming. And a knee coming forward has a major impact. I'll bet Wayne Simmonds feels awful about it. Definitely not his fault, but it's especially disheartening when your best player goes down as a result of friendly fire...

Kings dropped the axe on head coach Terry Murray. Someone's head has to roll over the Kings' serious lack of offensive production, and Murray is taking the fall. I can't say I'm disappointed or surprised. Having a strong defense is great (6th best GAA), but if you're losing a lot of games 1-0 and 2-1, what's happening at the other end of the ice needs closer examination. The Kings have scored more than 4 goals in a game only 4 times this season, and current have the worst offense in the league. Time to make a serious change and see if the undeniable talent on this team can be put back on the right track.

Yeah, I thought about that. But Sid's recurring concussion symptoms are reportedly not a result of the collision with Kunitz. It supposedly came from a hard hit from an opposing player. (I can't remember which game or player.)

EDIT: Here's what was reported by ESPN: "It's unclear if one specific hit caused the symptoms to resurface, though Crosby pointed to a first-period collision with Boston's David Krejci as significant."

That was in a game against the Bruins last week.

I was thinking of a way to blame the Flyers, I'll come up with one. :)

Speaking of Philly...why isn't Washington playing tonight? 4-0 Philly after two? Come on already Caps.

Nice goal from Kostitsyn tonight, Price looks sharp too. Then again, it's the Islanders

:D I guess haters always gonna' hate... ;)

I was admittedly a little shocked by the Caps tonight also. I thought they'd go after the Flyers like a lion on a wounded gazelle since Giroux is out. But they didn't seem to have a lot of jump in their game. Maybe they took the Flyers too lightly based on their recent lopsided success in the series.

I thought the Flyers started out unimpressively too; but they started clicking as the game went on. Excellent 2nd period blew it wide open.

I was really tentative coming into this game,...I actually toyed with the idea of not watching it,...and with a bit of a sigh,...I clicked on it and said to myself,....we'll see what happens.

Oh man they surprised me. I couldn't tell if the Flyers were that good,...or if the Caps were that bad,...lot's of deflection goals. The first half of the first period was a little frustrating to watch but then Hartnell scored (6 game goal scoring streak),....and it was all Flyers after that.

That hit/defensive play that Coburn put on Ovechkin leading up to the Simmonds (I think) goal was beast. Most of the goals were really strange sort of deflection type affairs. I love seeing that though. Players earning their territory in front of the net and get stick to puck.

Vorecek's goal was a thing of beauty. I'm really enjoying watching him play. He's pretty strong and really good at protecting the puck,...which helps with attack time and allows his linemates a chance to get to the dirty areas. He may not be putting the goals up that I was hoping he would,...but he is an excellent hockey player.

Well, Hollow Man, it wasn't 3 goals in the first period, it was the second instead. Slow start against the Caps by the Flyers. Strange game, really didn't seem to have much flow to it (of course I was getting packages together that I sold on eBay so i wasn't oaying too close attention).

I expected Vokoun to do better than he did and he really stunk up the place.

I did see the center ice collison between Ovechkin and Semin. Any ill effects between thos two? Looked sort of nasty being almost face to face.

Man... tough night to be a Caps fan last night (and morning after)...

Flyers looked tough, but the Caps just didn't show up. I thought the Caps played well in the first period, despite giving up that late goal to Hartnell. Even though Wideman got a piece of it and slightly deflected it, Vokoun still should have had it.

After that, it was all downhill. Caps gave up way too much space in front of the net, and the Flyers took advantage... every single goal was deflected in front of Vokoun/Neuvirth (two by Caps, and three by Flyers). That goal by Voracek was fantastic, and though Ovechkin played hard, he thoroughly embarrassed himself when, after a bunch of needless stick-handling, he got himself pinned to the boards at the blue line and gave up a breakaway that led to Talbot's goal. Bryzgalov looked great too; lots of tough saves, and he only made one mistake that gave the Caps the late goal.

I was expecting a much better effort from the Caps. I was really hoping that with three down days between games, they would have put in a lot of hard work to continue perfecting Dale Hunter's system, which really has led to a much-improved attitude on the team with respect to tough, grinding, defense-oriented play. They had that for one period, but they totally fell apart afterwards.

He was out of position several times, and got very lucky that he didn't let more goals in. That said, literally every goal was a deflection, and it's hard to fault him for those. He should have stopped Hartnell's goal in the first, but several of the others were bad breaks (for instance, Perrault tipped in one of the goals). The Caps defense bears a lot of responsibility for giving up so much ground in front of the net.

I think they'll be fine. Both guys played after the hit, although I couldn't help but think of Crosby/Kunitz and Giroux/Simmonds when it happened.

Speaking of Semin, I've never seen him lay as many hits as he did in that first period... for a guy who has the defensive prowess of a tree stump, he laid several good shots on some Flyers. But then, like the rest of the Caps, he faded....

Datsyuk showed more of his magic last night as the Wings took it to the Crosby-less Pens. The Wings seem to have their best team in a while this year. The difference is Howards goaltending, he's playing at a serious Vezina pace this season.

Detroit is fun to watch when they are on like that. Datsyuk haunted me in my dreams last night. Everytime I started to fall asleep he snapped off a 20 foot wrister into my ribcage. :)

I watched Winnipeg knock off the NHL's best team. Pavelec was amazing again last night, and now the Jets are on a nice hot streak. Backstrom played well right until the very end when Little got him for the game winner.
