I really want to stay up and watch DET/ANA tonight, but I think DAL/WPG may be the better game.

well, wrong about that one. Stings a bit....back to backs have been rough for the stars this season- they don't seem to have energy to play two nights in a row. Got blasted tonight to end a nice streak. Still on top of their division, though. If they jump back into competition it'll be alright.
yeah no doubt- Jets are passionate, fans and players. Got a big jump on a hot team tonight. Well done.
The COL/BUF game was awesome. Such a close game. The Avs scored with a second on the clock to send it to OT, then executed like clockwork winning the shootout. They're 9 and 1 in shootouts this year.
Figured you guys would get a kick out of this. I found this last night while going though some photo albums. It's my eighth grade hockey card. lol
Uh oh, we have a former MVP in our midst. 
Thursday finally got here. I can hardly wait. Still no word on Letang, which is a bigger deal to me than Crosby coming back. I sure hope he gets on the ice tonight. I have a feeling Tortorella will have his guys ready and beat the Pens handily. Gaborik has been on fire lately.
Crosby said he anticipates playing the third line with Cooke and Kennedy since Bylsma hinted that he wasn't going to change the top two lines since they are playing so well.
I was able to stay up for the DET/ANA, I'm glad I did. Jonas Hiller played a really good game. Selanne scored another goal, and the announcers said something about him and Gordie Howe. Quite an honor for a player to be mentioned alongside Gordie. I believe it was in relation to best season for a player over 40.

"He’s heading towards being in," head coach Dan Bylsma said following Wednesday's optional practice. "He had a good day (Tuesday) with the team, he had another good day today and we’re expecting him to come to the rink (Thursday) having a good day and being ready to play."

I think they put that on everyones card. LoL. I still have and use that stick. I bet I have changed the blade a hundred times. That was one of the first alluminum sticks to come out. I still love it and might never get rid of it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Leafs pick up a win for once. Looked good doing it too. In other news, Marty Brodeur is playing some of the best hockey in his life, and that is really saying something. If NJ keeps playing like they are, they are a serious contender.

Pens straight up outplayed the Rangers tonight. It was just the wrong time for us to play that team, especially when they're all healthy and on quite the streak.
Crosby looked solid. One assist on the night and a couple of nice plays. Played about 16-17 minutes and seemed to be feeling good.
Torts decided to put Hagelin/Richards/Gaborik together the past couple of games, which has worked, but it leaves us without any any other strong lines and was just not going to work in a game like this.
Fleury was a beast and really saved the Pens from having a much closer game to deal with. Biron played decently, but let in more goals than he should have, albeit that first one was wonky (more of a golf shot with a deflection). Games like that where I really wish Lundqvist wasn't sick.
There was a nasty elbow to the head of Fedetenko at one point that I expect the league to likely review, although there was no call on ice.
It'll be interesting to see what happens coming down the stretch for the final games of the season. Pens are 4 out with a game in hand.

Engelland has been suspended once this year already. He's not a dirty player, just tries to make big hits. He definitely made elbow contact to Fedetenko's head but luckily it seemed like he pulled off once he realized what he was doing, as the contact wasn't THAT hard. I could see him getting suspended for it though as it was a head shot. Then again, there has been zero consistency on suspensions this year so we shall see!
Game itself was overall rather boring in my opinion. Pens got some easy goals, Rangers gave up for half the game, wasn't a lot of hard hitting, etc. Then again, who am I to complain about Pens taking 2 points from the Rangers at this point.

Nice analysis Sonic_Death. Fedotenko did get an elbow, but I don't think it was a malicious hit. As Lazarus.Bird mentions, Engelland isn't a dirty player and he didn't really even follow through with the hit once he realized where the elbow made contact. All that being said, I think Engelland should sit a game for the hit as it was avoidable.

As for my analysis.....I thought for sure the Rangers were going to win that game. In those successive plays where Girardi put Malkin on his back (clean hit) followed by Boyle doing the same to Malkin at the other end of the ice (clean hit), then Malkin failed on his attempt to retaliate on Boyle. I figured that was it. The Rangers were going to bully the Pens around, take them out of their game, and skate off with the win.
I am really surprised how the Pens have stepped up the physical play in recent months. My biggest gripe in the past is how they don't match intensity. They did the same thing to Boston last week, and made a statement in that game too. Last night, they matched the physical play and made another statement.
Before I go.....how about the awesome level of hockey being played in Pennsylvania? The Flyers have been on quite a tear as well as Bryzgalov has been playing out of his mind. What was it, a 250 minute scoreless streak? Impressive for sure this late in the season. I wonder who is going to blink first in Pennsylvania.

Big game for the stars tonight hosting Chicago. Kari's back in, and get this- Jamie Benn has an older brother, who the stars also have, and may be getting his nhl debut on D tonight. Jamie Benn is perhaps the stars' all time best 5th round draft pick...maybe his brother will be just as good.
Here's a stat for you: Lehtonen is 8-0-1 with a 1.29 goals-against-average and a .955 save percentage in his last nine starts for the Stars.
They've got the goaltending, they've got(most of the time) the explosive offense, they've got a strong work ethic, PK has gotten much better, defense stands around more than I like, but is also improving. Biggest issue now is size- not the biggest and toughest team heading into the playoffs. Not sure they can handle the physical playoff style yet...

If Ottawa beats Montreal tonight, Boston drops to #7. That concerns me. Boston spun out of control like this already once this season, then they went on a winning spree and won something like 30 out of 31 games.
