Official 2011-2012 NHL Regular Season Thread; Second Period

Two points behind the Rangers for the top spot in the east sit the Pens, with those same Rangers on the schedule for Thursday in MSG. Wow, I can't wait for Thursday to get here.

Nice sound defeat of Boston today. I have nothing to complain about, but I know my Bruin fan co-workers will on Monday. Krejci stayed hot for Boston, but that win was too easy for Pitt. Boston is better than that and will be once the playoffs start.

Nine straight wins, a 4-0 homestand just completed, guys stepping up. Feels good to be a Pen fan right about now.

We picked up the win in a SO, and used our game in hand over Detroit to impact the standings.

We played really well for 40 minutes, then played "meh" for 25 and it almost cost us the win. Peks was good in net and Craig Smith had a great breakaway goal, and AK put in the winner in the SO.

Coming back against the Rangers? That's a bold move for Crosby. This ain't the Islanders. As I was reading the headline, I saw another headline right below it with Avery and Rangers in the title. For a split second, I thought it was something about the Rangers signing Avery and I figured it was just for this game so he could go out there and rough up Crosby.

Radulov is free to join the Predators I heard today. Big pickup for Nashville if it happens.

It's a scary situation, honestly. If he comes back, we might have to split up lines that have a good bit of chemistry. We'll have to send someone dawn (Halischuk for the love of all things Holy) and someone out of Yip, Spaling, Smith, and Toots would be a scratch every night.

Plus he'll have to get used to the NHL rinks and rules, and gameplay style and speed.

I think he could make an impact int he playoffs, but not much until then.

I'm not really sure what all the waivers fuss was about in the first place anyways. He is still on his initial NHL deal and exempt from them, KHL or not.

Thursday should be a great game. My concern right now is that Lundqvist is out tonight with the flu, so we can only hope he gets better by Thursday. Nothing against Biron, but we obviously want our #1 in net.

The Avery stuff is BS. Even when not playing he can aggravate others. While on a talk show on Bravo he announced he was retiring, and now his manager/agent is saying that he has no plans to actually retire. I am just sick of this guy already... no one will touch him, not even minor league teams.

Caps stink up the joint for the first half of the game against the Islanders, but wage a furious comeback after being down 4-1 to force OT, and then win it in the shootout on a siiiiiiick deke from Matt Hendricks. Ovi had two goals and a shootout goal, so he's not dead yet.

This was the first game in a five-game road trip for the Caps... need a strong showing to keep up with Florida, who's playing darn good hockey.

In other news, what the hell is going on in Boston? Tampa Bay monkey-stomped them 6-1 tonight.

with Radulov, i gotta believe that the preds are a super strong contender for coming out of the west. Not a difficult prediction to see a pens-preds final.

Don't get me wrong, I believe in Dallas all the way- but I'm just happy to see them in contention this year. But it's going to take a near perfect lehtonen in order for them to stand a chance getting out of the first round, let alone compete with the blues, preds, or pens. Playoff hockey is almost here! When do we get to fill out our brackets? :hyper:

I already have mine filled out..... :)

Just occurred to me as I was watching NHL Tonight last night (on vacation, traveling and having to take a break from the games,....looks like I picked a bad time though with Bryz heating up).

Pekka Rinne?

Pecorino?

If you are into cheese, and don't mind it made from sheep's milk,...check it out.

:D

Beyond that,....Nashville should be feeling good about their team right now. Easily one of the best in the west.

Blues are also surprising me.
