Congrats! Personally, I think that is the best looking Devon yet. Elegant, maybe a bit understated, all black hardware, and fantastic top.

Exciting! would you mind explaining the controls? that's a lot of knobs

Master volume w/pp a/p, blend w/center detent, passive tone, b/m/t boost and cut w/center detent, 3 way selector switch one for each pickup single coil/series/parallel. All knobs and switches are extremely useful with a wide variety of tones and colors from great slap tone, mid bite a la Jaco, old school to very modern with deep smooth lows, shimmering highs that aren’t harsh or biting to very round and full. The pups and controls give me the most useful tone pallet I’ve ever experienced.

When I was growing up, sorry I’m a musician so I never really have, my parents had a coffee table with a camphor burl veneer. When I was in my later teens and trying hallucigenics I saw all these swirling little faces in that table. I later inherited that table and it sat in my basement for 30 years. I always fantasized of using that table for a bass top although my misbehavior days were long since over. Short story long the table was damaged in a flood and discarded. When Devon showed me available tops I could see that same pattern of swirling faces and knew I could get what I had conceived from that table. As it turns out the top is a much nicer piece of camphor burl than the original. So minus the authentic memorabilia panache the bass came out much nicer than I could ever have imagined.

Thanks for the details! This layout is incredible, really the full package. I feel in particular the independent coil tap switches are great for versatility.

I really like the Delanos. Full range deep lows, well defined mids and shimmering highs without harshness. Very round and full.

Congrats on your beautiful bass. I like the Times Square soap bars. Not too many out there but they seem like good high end pickups. Here is a clip from Maruszczyk with a similar configuration.

I have owned the purple J5 bass for about a month and this bass it's just incredible. I have owned a lot of high-end basses and these basses are out of this world, the attention to detail surpasses most of these basses, and the sounds it's just beautiful. Davon basses are just the hidden jewel of basses. What an incredible bass.

That is rather odd as I've been friends with Devon for a few years and purchased many basses. He has always been very nice and kind with every interaction I've had.
