Yeah of all the Builders I've ever dealt with, Devon is one of the most sincere that will treat you like a friend every time he talks to you.

i agree with you, he is by far the most nicer guy i have ever meet. When I bought the bass It felt like I was buying it from a friend.

Just emailing devon about the onboard preamp module that went bad and can’t believe how rude this guy was.

Might end to just selling my bass with brand new preamp installed

Devon has always been super accommodating and responsive with me.

Just an FYI, there is a Devon at my local GC in Alexandria, Va. I didn’t play it because I was just in-n-out for a pack of strings.

I just noticed that if you look the bass up on-line, they have an Ibanez in the photos...might want to call them for purchase...

That's incredibly important to me. I've owned two basses by an incredibly prominent and well respected builder, and that was not the case. I love the basses, but that was very disappointing and enough to put me off future purchases. It's literally why I was looking elsewhere and found Devon.

I'm the MOST impatient guy when I'm excited about something though. Devon is going on a hiatus to upgrade his shop. He will be working on basses, but his priority will be his shop. I asked him what the turnaround will be and he said a year. I'm hoping he's an underpromise-overdeliver type. He said there are only a couple of builds in front of mine and he'll try to expedite the best he can. Some day however, I will have this super killer 5 to go with my beautiful Sadowsky 4.

I have a question for you all. The placement of the rear strap pin on Devon's basses is obviously not traditional. I will be moving back and forth from 4 string to 5 and my 4 string Sadowsky has its pin in the traditional place. I'm thinking that without adjusting the strap, the Devon will naturally sit lower than my Sadowsky. Would it be worth asking Devon to move the strap pin to the traditional place or would that throw off the balance of the instrument? Thoughts?

This build looks incredible! I have a Devon bass in the works with the same P+MM layout except I asked that Devon puts the MM humbucker as close as possible to its traditional Stingray sweet spot, with the split-coil exactly in the Precision traditional sweet spot (the MM is just a hair closer towards the bridge). I expect it to be finished within the next few months, I'll post pictures soon!

I'm actually not getting the MM pickup. It'll be basically two J-bass pickups side by side. It's this.

I would just get a strap for each bass.

Mine has the double jazz pickups that he had a custom cover made for-looks a lot like a mm pickup but doesn’t sound like it. Nice versatile pickup.
