Official Eventide Stompbox (H9/Factor Series) Club!!!

That's only if you Max out, right?

No it's for all h9s. I've have the standard and was able to get the compressor/eq and resonator for free. I am a little disappointed in the pace they're adding new algos, but I know they were devoting a lot of time on revamping the timefactors looper and making it compatible with the h9.

I would personally rather have crazy pitch shifty effects than a compressor or eq. It just seems insane to use a $500 box that size for compression when it can make so many more interesting sounds.

Ditto this. I did try all the presets with the compressor and some sounded good to my ears, but ultimately I'll never use it. I don't like compression. I get enough from my fuzz pedals.

I did however like the Resonator. That thing is awesome.

I really, really wish they'd make a way for you play multiple algos.
Make damn Android app already.
Oh and put out their own midi controller. Seriously. Something that works with the looper would be great. Otherwise that looper is useless.

I used my coupon on the Undulator (good for ambient). Basically, what I'm doing now is I'm playing around with all the demos with my fretted, fretless, and guitar, and making lists of things I absolutely must have, absolutely don't need (Ring Mod, flanger) and ones I might get. Harmodulator's probably the next one.

I thought the compressor sounded awesome... I never used one before, but I'd rather get a separate pedal.

I'm going through a bit of a freak out right now. My H9 standard won't power up. The led on the power supply lights up and appears to be working fine, but since Eventide uses a center (+) 9v power, which is different from every other pedal I own, I can't determine if it is the power supply itself or the pedals power jack.

I need to a) buy an adaptor, b) buy a new power supply, c) send my pedal to Eventide.

***Disclaimer***:I haven't spoke to anyone from Eventide yet, because it is late and the weekend. I'm only posting this mostly to vent and because I love my h9 and it not turning was the worst thing to happen to me today. I am so fortunate this is the worst part of my day. Hopefully tomorrow I wake up and every pedal works fine.

I don't know if this helps, but my Pitchfactor went through something similar. It was purchased used and out of warranty. Eventide fixed it at the cost of my shipping it to them---perhaps because it happened when I was trying to update it, although they didn't say that was what happened. If there is something wrong, then I hope they do the same thing for you.

Well, I'm joining the Eventide club. Just got an H9 Max and an H9 Core. Should be here tomorrow. I have a question about power, I've reduced my effects from a PT-Pro to a PT-2 and I'm powering it with a VooDoo Labs 4x4. I know I'm running the H9's on two of the high-power outputs, but since they're center positive(?)am I using the RED power cord or one of the BLACK power cords? Thanks guys.

I hate to steer you wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Voodoo Labs cables are red for center positive and black for center negative. I think that's what I'm using.

And welcome @pbass6811! I put you down for 2 H9s, if I'm reading your post correctly. You're #10.

I'm actually more than 99% sure, I'm just trying to absolve myself of any responsibility if anything goes sideways!

Just to make it official!!

Question...who's gigging with an H9 and using an iPad to control it at the shows? How much memory does your iPad have? I'm trying to see if I can get away with a 16gb. I don't plan on using it for anything else(I'm an android guy), but I may play around with GarageBand...

Thanks!

I'm planning on getting an H9 and thought this would be a good place to ask a few questions.

1) I'd like to go to the MAX. Any suggestions on the cheapest way to do this? It seems like it's cheaper to get a standard unit and then add algorithims using discounted iPod cards. Is there a downside? I guess if I sell it and deregister it, the next guy wouldn't get a max? Anything else? I'm not finding much discounts on the max beyond the 699.

2) I don't have an iPhone (it's a Windows phone), but I do have an expression pedal and a footswitch controller (the digitech 3 button one). Will I be miserable for editing patches on the unit? I figure I can do the USB editing and patch assigning with my (Windows) laptop, but can I be playing through it at the same time?

3) If I find a used unit (any of the levels), am I still able to max it out?

4) Is the looper really bad, even for practicing? I use a JamMan now. I know I can't do other effects and the looper, but eventually I'd like to get an H9 Core.

5) Really asking for pedalboard space issues - how's the tuner? Anyone try it with a low B?

Guess that was more than a few...Thanks in advance!

I don't own an H9, but I own other Factor pedals, so I'm going to answer what I can.

(1) I think you can still get 15-20% off if you go to certain places and do some *ahem* Prime Asking, if you catch my drift. I know that's what @nshuman did. Resale value is a good point though; I'm not sure how the purchased algorithms work if you resell the unit. I feel like this might be answered on the Eventide FAQ page.

(2) I used an expression pedal and the same Digitech FS3X for my Factor pedals for a while. Ease of operation was not bad at all. Editing on the Factor pedals is actually a breeze (all the buttons are right there), and I've heard the H9 is similar, though a bit more menu-driven.

(3) I'm pretty sure? Again, I don't know how all of those details work though.

(4) Never used the Timefactor or H9.

(5) I use the Pitchfactor as my primary tuner, including for a 5-string. Works fine, IMO.
