I've already posted a pic of this bass but i thought you might like to see it with DR Neons on it.
It looks really good but unfortunately i didnt get on with the strings so i took them off.

Yeah, its a bit "conspicuous". Still, these are supposed to be Sunbeams so at least i got to try them out.

Yes it's the honey blonde. I bought it used so I don't know if it started out that dark or if it got stained from direct sunlight or something else.
Mines also got the little 60th anniversary medalion on the back of the head. I guess that makes it more special

I only guessed thats what happened based on the way I saw sunlight stain the wood of a new piece of furniture in my apt. Made it darker.

The American Specials are much better at only slightly higher MSRP.
If the H1s go, it won't be any gigantic loss, but I have a theory that Highway Ones are in a sort of strange marketing/production limbo. They periodically make big batches of them, apparently during slow periods, and permit them to be sold dirt cheap, seemingly just to keep production and distribution rolling. They don't seem to do this with any other MIA.
I see this repeatedly. FMIC dumped huge numbers of brand-new H1 Telecasters nationwide in 2009 for $369-$389 through the GC stores, for example. The instruments were only weeks old. Same with this batch of basses.
You'd love to be the fly on the wall sometimes, just to get a glimpse of the true picture.

yeah, it's not a huge deal, I'd probably just get one used if it did, I always seem to gas for an H1 as a cheap(er) American instrument I wouldn't feel bad about if I ended up modding it. I'm really considering the American Deluxe P though as a do-all instrument but it's twice the coin. although, p/j, active/passive switch, etc. very nice.

No - no deals. I ordered it from Warmoth. Other than Stewmac was one of the cheaper ones I found that I still liked - $41 or so shipped. I couldn't find a Fender guard that specified fit for a H1 or American Standard in tort. Probably didn't look good enough. The Warmoth DID NOT fit straight out of the package. Had to modify the area where it meets the control plate. Also, there were two screwholes that weren't even close to the stock locations.

It took me months to find the tort guard I am using for my HWY-1 project. Bought it used from right here in the TB classifieds. Prices new for tort seem a lttle crazy to me.

No guarantees, fellas, but I got a white pearl scratchplate for my (then new) '06 HighwayOne from this cat for only $11. If I remember right, I was skeptical about fit and finish at that price, so I drove up to Phoenix to put eyes on it. I brought my screwdriver kit for a fit-check. Like a glove, it fit...nice as any others I'd seen. They also come in B/W/B, tortoise, parchment, and mint.
He also sells them for Precisions for an extra couple of bucks. Takes PayPal, too.

I put a tort guard on my 2006 Hwy 1 and more recently my 2010 Hwy1. Bought the PG off the rack at Guitar Center and the label said it was for an American standard J bass. it fit perfectly. It had the notch pre-drilled for the body side truss rod adjustment. $25.00 well spent...love the way it looks.
