Worth the wait - Beuuuutiful!!!!!:bassist:

So - I "heard it through the grape vine"....uh sorry - hadda do it....anyways - I hear I am getting gruff for waiting so long to post pics of my new beauty......sorry it took so long....lotsa good excuses, but will not bore you with them...

I will catch up on posts after this....

(YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!):):D

ANYWAYS:

here are some of the first pics....and what a better place to take them than in front of my new Digital HD TV (BTW: the Superbowl looked GREAT on it!):

sorry - my poor photography skills and the lighting do not do the color or MOP blocks justice.....she is really one of the most beautiful basses I have ever seen and does she have a temper!!!!

I played it at church for the first time on Sunday and I will have to admit, it plays better than most of my other Laklands...they are all good, but this one plays sweeter than sweet! John and Greg can attest to that...

after the sevice the sound guy came up to me ans wanted to know what I did different than before because this was the best bass he said he has heard me play yet (and he admitted that was something since he LOVES the rest of the stable)...she growls and has some GREAT tones......inds like a J bass on steroids.....

I am sorry that "Project Ebony" did not come to fruition but this is easing the pain ALOT!!!

now: Surf's up!!!! Post 'em if you can fit 'em in between mine!!!

I want the advice of the LOG on this one. First, here's a pic of my Fretless US JO:

As some of you could guess, I get the Jaco-clone comment at almost every gig. It gets bothersome, because a) I'm no Jaco and b) I am heavily influenced by more than just Jaco. Who knows if it's even cost me a few gigs? Sooooo, I want to get my fretless refinished. After seeing Ian's (artiseasy) 70's J in Antigua Burst, I've wanted a bass like that. Here is the mockup that Markus did for me (thanks, Markus!):

Chances are I'd also have my pickup cover on it as well... what do you all think? I'm definitely getting it refinished and I'm feeling this. Before this, I was thinking Oly White. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Evan,

you sure??!!! isn't that a lower serial number?

Even if not, you will lose the MOJO JOJO!!!

I do like the Antigua Burst however......

divorce? no she does not believe in divorce.....killing yes - but not divorce....which reminds me....who do I trust enough to put my Laklands in the hands of to sell should she kill me? who needs insurance? I know have 6 Laklands!!!

shhhhhh - don't let her know I said that!!!:hiding:
I think I'm closest, just leave'em with me. ;)

Doug, that JO5 looks better than I thought it would... I thought it would look great, but that is smokin
Oh man, I forgot just how sweet ice blue looks until I saw this baby. And the neck, the tone, just awesome! If only it was a four.:D

yes. If I go Antigua I'd go poly. If i went oly white or something like that, it would be nitro... I'll stop bothering everyone about the refin. there is one last one I'm thinking. Rickenbacker's autumnglo:

I know it's similar to 3tone, but I love it to death. we'll see.

Hey - that looks IDENTICAL to the RIC I once had!!!! Loved it but it just did not get played with Lakies in the house...not to hijack but:

you know, when I was growing up I REALLY wanted a RIC and a Fender P...if I had those, I would have been "set for life".....well, I got 'em - that is what got me back into playing again after a 10+ year absense of not touching a bass.....well.... was happy UNTIL.....well....UNTIL Lakland GAS caught me off guard!

the first GAS was Amber.....she was the first Lakie ordered....BG was the first one I actually owned...whammo! I was addicted....never thought I would own more than 2-3 basses tops! and I was going to keep them for life.....

my how things change!!!!

back to our regualily scheduled thread and helping Evan pick a color.....

Evan - would have to see it on a JO to tell you....like the color...but on a JO (?) not sure....

I almost forgot. Way to go, Doug. Your purchase has really raised the bar around here. A married guy getting two US Laklands at the same time:cool:. I would get killed.
I admire you.

thanks my friend......stupid is the word....but hey...a man's gota do...well, we all know the rest!

I told you I LOVED that color....when it came up, I hadda have it...any word on your new one????

'Out For Delivery'

Whoo-hoo! Today's the day!

I should be getting my brand spankin' new Skyline JO5 IndoPlek with Chi-Sonics (passive single coils): 3TT with a tort guard, maple fretboard and a bone nut. I've been without a Lakland for a couple of months now and it's been driving me nuts!

Pics to follow this evening...

sounds wonderful!!! look forward to reading the review and seeing the pics.....those CHi's are remarkable!!!

Awesome! I think that line goes in this order:

"I do!" From wife when getting married
"It's a boy!" or "It's a girl!" children being born.
"Out For Delivery" You are getting a Lakland today.

He he he!
:D

Oh - ain't that special? you really are a softy at heart....

BTW "I do" is only 2 words.....but I agree...those are GREAT words to hear......they mean she actually bought into all of that stuff you were shoveling her (I mean those kind promises and words you said when courting!)
