So the Brown Truck of Love dropped off my new Lakland today. It's a Skyline Joe Osborn 5 CS crafted in Indonesia and has been plekked.

The craftsmanship is top, top notch. No gaps, no runs, no finish flaws. Tight, tight, tight.

The action is like no other bass I have ever played at any price (although I've not played a US Lakland)!

you are only telling half the story...talk about the sound....the "J-on steriods".........she looks sweet and I am sure she sounds sweet as well!!! I know mine does!!!

MM Bongos did the same thing to me, come to think about it-- from now on I will not judge a bass's looks until I see it being played.

Decades are kinda "growing on me".........love the sound....but my 55-07 should cure that!

That's interesting, maybe one of the other guys with JOs or DJs with Chis can weigh in. On my Decade, the levels seem even--no mean feat, given where the neck pickup is!

mine are even as well.....must be something with the wiring....just a guess...but since you are getting a new one....don't worry....

Nice - now I know what my JO would look like with Chi's - nice neck on that one. Congrats!!!

Chi's do add a somewhat "classy look" to JOs......especially JO5ers!!!

Damn grateful, that is one hell of a JO!

I have missed the whole crafted in indo thing. What was wrong with the korean manufacturer? I hope the quality stays the same. I love the build quality of the cort factory.

Maybe I'm being to conservative, but built in korea sounds higher quality to me than built in indo. Alltough it doens't show on you JO-pics.

to catch you up, the Korean plant closed and Lakland had to make a move - same manufacturer (Cort)....in actuality, the first few shipments of Indo_Lakies have been on par if not better than the Korean counterparts.....in many cases, they are (on average) lighter as well.....

i think i am going to buy a new neck for my lakland. i want an ebony fingerboard instead of rosewood...maybe a different nut material, too.

go for it! I LOVE the ebony board on my fretless! BUT: keep in mind, the only fretted ebony boards are US boards so expect to pay........

ok two things...

I got my glaub on thursday from the distributor in the uk. What i would like to know is what pickup the bass has in it. The bass is a made in Korea one - how long ago did the pickup swap happend to laklands own...

and everytime i see those decades they grow more and more on me....... argghhhhhh and i've only jsut got a new bass....

what are the frist 2 digits in the serial number? if it is 2007 (07) or above it maybe has Laklands if 2008 (08) it has Laklands for sure....

Has anyone got any more details on the 5-string Glaub? I saw the US model listed in the 2009 catalog, but there's no pics and nothing from NAMM that I've seen. I'd like to see this in a Skyline, but just knowing there's a US version out there would be good news.

two Glaub 5ers were SUPPOSED to be at NAMM but something got messed up...so they did not make it....

I hear you may be able to have BG5 number 1...still available last time I talked to Kirk (before NAMM).....

I agree that a Skyline BG5 would be a good move......maybe even before a US BG5......not sure Dan and the gang are convinced of this though.....maybe when Indo comes up to full capacity!!!

I played a Skyline DJ this past past weekend while I was away up north. Very, very nice! Definitely going to go for a DJ5.

GREAT picture...again...I LOVE that MM style pickguard! Maybe I should have gone that way for the 55-07.....went with the J style 55-01 pickguard instead.....I can always get another pickguard later!!!

I have set a rule for myself of no more than 5 basses. Before the Decade I bought, I added a Inca Silver Lakland Hollowbody. That made six and it was looking like my 12 string would have to go---but now with teh Decade, the HB will have to go too.

I was OK with that until I pulled it out this evening and played for awhile (was only going to be about 5 minutes---turned into 1 hour). Man I love this thing, it is a great player, great looker, and sounds great. Now, I don't want to get rid of it, but I have to---I want to keep my 1973 4001 Rick, my Gibson EB-0, RD Artist, and Kubicki, so it leaves the choice between the Decade and the HB. This is tough. All of the basses have a unique sound, so getting rid of a duplicate sound is not an option. They all sound great and are distinctive. I didn't think I'd ever run into this sort of problem. Any ideas?

you sir...have a tough decision....I am not sure....I would say get rid of a non-Lakie, but those you have are very unique.....I can tell you however, that I did sell my RIC for a Lakie....not a '73 but a very nice '89.....
