Hello all.

This is my first post, so sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong area while I'm trying to figure this all out!

I am in need of some MarkBass advice and I'm hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I'm about to buy a used LM II I found on craigslist. I have read a lot into the LMII and am very excited. The wierd thing is that this LM II is 600 watts. I can't find a single thing about a 600 watt LMII on the internet, just the regular 500W @ 4 Ohms. Has anyone heard of this 600 watt LMII before? Is it a knock off or import? Also, if anyone does know, what do you think the output power @ 8 Ohms would be. I have a 500 watt 8 Ohm cabinet I want to use. Would this be safe?

Ohms are the important number, after that just take your time when raising the volume, this can do damage.

I believe the 600w is the amps draw from the wall (when maxed out) but the amp will still just put out 500w.

Grab that amp. Its a beauty. I love mine.

Welcome to TalkBass! I suspect that it's a typo. I searched for 600 watt LM IIs on Craigslist and couldn't find one...perhaps the seller has corrected the ad by now?

At any rate, the amp would be rated 300 watts into your 8 ohm cabinet and would make you very happy!!!!

It is true that the warranty is voided if you do this, but it is still possible to remove and run the head. I easily removed the head from my CMD121P. Just unscrew the 4 hex bolts holding it in, then take off the 2 plastic corners either side of the head's faceplate. The head should then slide out of the cabinet. I plan on using the head seperately when i get a bigger cab. I'm going to get a thin sheet of metal (thin enough so that the amp can still be put into the 121P) to cover the guts and electronics.

If you need the piece of mind of the warranty then you'd need to fork out the extra cash for a new head. Of course if you put it back as it was, the repairman/markbass won't know a thing. :)

Are you talking about markbass club numbers? It's not that complicated. If you own any markbass product, you can get a number from me, which is permanently yours... regardless if you exchange equipment later, or even sell it all off and move on (at which point you become an "alumni" if you wanna' define that state somehow).

I don't want to spend much time managing this, because really, it doesn't mean anything and is just silly fun.
