Hope it is ok if i post this here.

A certain number of TUNE replacement parts will be available this fall. That includes the plastic knobs, TUNE headstock logos, replacement bridges for 4, 5 and 6 string TWB basses, TUNE Machine heads.
TUNE Bridges and machine heads will be also availabe in black, in case someone wants to convert their TWB bass to all black hardware.

Thanks for the links guys. That fretless looks awesome I would love a 5er version of it. I finally got around to adjusting the preamp trim pots inside the back cavity and wow, night and day. The bass really woke up and got me excited about all over again. To anyone who hasn't messed with them I recommend you do. If in fact they are set in what I assume is the factory setting which is very flat, you will find a whole new set of more modern tones which I personally quite like.

Both are quite active groups,more so the owners one. In fact the owners group is one of the best on FB, very supportive

Including us with the Korean ones?

I do have two questions though. First off is concerning the SGC Nanyo Bass Collection bass. Now, I have been lusting over one of those basses ever since I laid my eyes on it but I have noticed it is very similar to the Bass Maniac line that Tune produces. Any history between the two? I've also wondered if Tune had a slight hand in creating the Ibanez Soundgear as well as the Ibanez RB800 but then again that would be a bit farfetched.

Second question is a bit peculiar, but anyone with a newer Tune (preferably TWB or TWX series, years 2008+) can post pictures of their preamp control boards. Reason I ask is because the preamp in my Korean bass is the same as the one on the Korean Tune's website, and from what I heard a lot of pictures on there were ripped from the Japanese website. I know it sounds like an odd request, but I am still befuddled, even after owning my TWX-41 for 5 years or so.

Lovely bass the SGC Nanyo,I have one myself:thumbsup: The Bass Maniac definitely came first,I remember desperately wanting one around 84/86 ?
A few years later Washburn released their ABT series and the Bass Centre in London started importing the SGC Bass Collection basses.The
models are so similar there's no doubt a " borrowing " of ideas happened.But the models themselves differ,the flagship Washburn ABT B-30
sold for £399 in the UK while the Bass Collection went for £799.Bass Maniac's were £899.

There's a few versions of Bass Collection, Japanese made then the Korean version and the budget " by Marina ". SX also make a licensed version.
I don't think it's far fetched the Ibanez looked to the Tune when the Soundgear were being developed.

At present there's 3 Washburn ABT's,a SGC Bass Collection and 2 Tune basses here at home with me,makes it so easy to compare the models.:D
I've had the SGC for 20 odd years and the Washburns are poor imitations of both the Maniac and SGC. No such easy task to compare the SGC and
Maniac though, very close to each other.

Got my bass set up by a guy who does every pro that comes through the area. He told me Roger Glover from Deep Purple has been using Tunes and bringing them by for setups. Thought I'd share with the Tune folks.

Whatever happened to those guys? I remember selling those in the late '80s at a store here in SD when they first arrived - I couldn't get past the fact that they were made in Japan and "weren't Fenders" (yeah, I was young) but they were VERY nice...

If you go back to pg 27 and look at post #533 and #534 you'll see that I did just that.

Yep, looks similar to the preamp in mine; everything that I have seen points to it being the GZP-2 preamp found in both Japanese and Korean instruments. Haven't had any issues with grounding or buzzing so I don't think I'm going to shield the cavity. Excuse the large mark on the top right of the bass; just usual player wear! Hoping it could be buffed out though.

Kodiakblair, what year is your bass? I haven't seen any preamp like that so I'm just wondering what kind of preamp it is.

Another stupid question; what kind of pickups are on the TWX and earlier TWBs? I've always assumed they were dual coil humbuckers but they seem awfully slim to be dual coils...yet I haven't heard any 60 cycle hum with them.

I believe it's from 2008 though it may be 2006. It's a TWB-4Z with 2 SB-1 boards and a JCP-7 board for piezo.
I really hope nothing ever goes wrong as 1 of the SB boards is different,the large black capacitor is missing.
A bit of an odd fish as the 4 string doesn't appear to be made any more but Tune still sell the boards so that's
a relief.

Another question for you guys. I believe the bass has an oil finish on it as opposed to a poly or nitro finish. If so what would you use to oil it with. Part of the reason I got mine cheap was the fact that there are a number of small dings on it. I would like to re-oil it and give it a light buff to bring back the luster of what is now a very dull finish. Suggestions are appreciated and I'd also like to know if you are guessing or know for sure about the original finish.

Mine looks like this in a fiver.

Does it have a dull shine?
Or is it a satin finish?
Mines satin.And I use Howard's Feed 'N Wax or Formby's Lemon Oil Treatment every so often.
