Origin Audio Cali76 FET compressor (1176 inspired)

I power mine with a MXR 18v psu. Got the basic version however, not the transformer one. As for settings - input depending on the bass, output to unity gain, ratio anywhere between 4 and 12 (depending on material played), attack on 12 o'clock and quickest release possible.

I believe you have to use 18v in order to engage the transformer, at 9v it is bypassed.

The setting I like right now is gain switch set to low, ratio 6:1, attack at 10 o'clock, release at 2 o'clock, input enough to get 10 db gain reduction when playing normal/little hard, and then output where you need it to get overall volume to unity.

That's almost exactly the settings I use. And yes you need 18v to engage the transformer, but not necessarily their adapter.

Sounds much better with the transformer option imo

Thanks so much everyone for the help. I sold just about all of my pedals and I have a spare Gator G-Bus-8-US Pedal Board Power Supply with three 18v outputs The Cali would be the only thing being powered I'm trying to avoid spending another $40.00 for a single unit.

Btw, two days ago I recorded with the 6176. Quite good I have to acknowledge :o:D

yep, I love my 6176 (and my focusrite ISA430 MKII is awesome too):

Did some initial A/B tests at 9 volts with my Maxon CP9 pro+ Which has been my comp of choice for a few years and couldn't really hear a huge difference through my enabler and phones worth the £349 I paid. 18volt adaptor arrived and this did add some more sonic textures but I'm not sure these would come through live. Undecided on this. Guess I need to give this a go in a live situation to be sure
