Origin Audio Cali76 FET compressor (1176 inspired)

It really is. When I got it, I was surprised at how big it was even thought I had measured it on my board before and had double checked the actual size with Duke. But, what really got me at first was how HUGE the knobs are on that pedal. I love it!

I agree and for some weird reason I really understand how everything works because of the big knobs :)

Nice, I have a feeling I'll have a few questions then!

Yesterday I took a picture of it while trying to figure out how to fit it on my PTjr. It looks like my B7K is shrank.

I wanna give a big thumbs up to the guys at origin effects, great service and awesome shipping.

Sure looks cool. My only pedal that is as big as the Cali76tx is the wounded paw blender v4.

Origineffects were great with me as well. Very responsive, super fast shipping. They do have at least one Canadian dealer now: http://guitareffectscanada.com

And, now they have their Lundhal transformer version as a standard build, and the boost version... :)

I was starting to think that my Cali would be redundant and see very little use now that I have the 6176 but chaining them is turning out to yield amazing sounds. I can totally get some low-fi super high compression sounds like on the early Misfits recording. Like on their song called "She".

I am no longer of the opinion that everyone should have one on their board, I now believe everyone should have two :)

The only problem with this compressor is that it is intimidating. It's expensive, BIG, and Origin did not used to have so many dealers so shipping/duties could get expensive. I looked at the Origin website for a long time before I could convince myself to buy it. I am really glad I did.

The TXP really looks like the way to go now that it has been released. If it would have been available when I got the tx, I probably would have went for the TXP.
I just emailed them and asked if mine could be upgraded? I'm like you I would have got that option if it had been available or I would have waited if I knew this option was in the works?.

Honestly, I would have, but, now that my main setup includes the 6176, I'm ok with just having the 76TX and not TXP :)

The boost functionality would be highly redundant for me, I think it would have more appeal for someone with a more limited board or maybe more for guitarists. As for the parallel blend, I like the idea of blending with a non compressed signal with lesser compressors. However, on the Cali76, I am not entirely sure hat it is completely necessary. It should completely perfect not blended, and that is saying much coming from me since my whole board is setup to have tons of blended options. Also, honestly, one could simply use an external blender to achieve that the TXP does blend-wise.

Again, if I was buying it today, I would get the TXP just because :) Yet, I am very happy with the TX and don't plan on parting with it for a long time to come :)

Yeah if I can't get it upgraded no big deal but I love options. :)
