OVNIFX Smoothie Compressor

Congrats, Bongo, on a successful product launch!

I'm def gonna buy a Smoothie from the next run. And the pedals you have in the works are very interesting...

Except the name - PEAR labs? I associate that with psychic researchers and the audiophile cable people. I would still buy bass boxes from bongo, but it may be a strike for some people.

Awesome to hear, thanks! I look forward to any other user comments. There is one guy who decided the Smoothie wasn't to his taste, so he's returning it. Not a big deal, I figure one out of 16 is a pretty good ratio! Again though, all user comments are welcome and appreciated.

It would indeed be useful, e.g. stick a Zoom MS-60B in there and you've got a boatload of tweakable amp sims for the PA that won't affect your rig sound. You could of course use a splitter before the DI but then that is one more box!

If you have room for one extra jack but not two, you could of course use a single TRS jack with an insert cable like this:

Settings used?

I used basically what Bongo recommended as a fat setting but set the level and blend differently. More level than blend signal and it totally sounded killer in the mix. I also recorded a clean bass signal straight to daw and I use that to mix in any clean bass into the mix, wasn't a lot though the tone from the smoothie is what makes it pop! Sounds amazing.

Here's a quick recording I did with the Darkglass B7K going into the Smoothie! I might do a little demo in the future, but I gotta try some more settings first to make sure it will be a useful one :)

My smart phone won't play sound on a SoundCloud page, so I had to re-post as a SoundCloud link to listen to it.
Sounds good! Would be interesting to hear more examples of the Smoothie.
Cheers,
Kalle

^ Nevermind, just saw the bass. Still wondering about B7K settings.

Thank you! I don't remember the exact settings on the B7K because I keep trying new combinations (I just acquired it with the Smoothie!), but it was close to this:

Blend 2:00
Drive 2:00
Low 1:00
Lo Mids 1:00
Hi Mids 2:00
Treble 11:00
Grunt: Raw, Attack: Off
Level set to unity gain

Thank you! I will definately post some Smoothie clips in the future, I just gotta learn a little bit more from it first :)
So far, the settings I like the most are in this range:

Attack 10:00 - 12:00
Sustain 11:00 - 2:00
Tone 10:00 - 1:00
Level 11:00
Blend 10:00 - 1:00
Threshold depends on the input signal, so I could use the -20dB pad or not.

Edit: the Smoothie also does wonderful things to my MXR Bass Octave Deluxe!!!
Edit 2: well, actually all of my pedals go well into the Smoothie. Damn!
