Okay... long ago when I was first informed that I'd be a bass player, I used one of my (which I still have) plastic PR15 speakers until I bought a proper cab.
No way that's worthy, lol...
I just enjoy following this thread mostly to see that old big heavy stuff like that bass cab above.

Glad to have you hangin' around mang, and that's the spirit- to enjoy what's good, what's fun, and whatever other appropriate adjective you want to throw in there.

Here's my current Peavey rig.

Sold all of this gear a few years ago when I was laid off, so no club number for me. But this rig did several hundred shows - sounded great and never broke a sweat !!! Peavey Pro 500 (with a dbx noise gate) into either a Pro 210 or 410.
Yes! The 4000 is certainly what informed the Peavey Patriot.

One of my friends here around Nashville is using a Quilter Bass Block 800 into one or two of the Headliner 410 cabs. Sounds monstrous, but clear and tight. Impressive for what they cost.

There's a used Firebass 700 that I'm considering getting that also comes with a homemade sealed 4 ohm cab with a pair of 15" Black Widows. Tbh, it sounds pretty good.
Who knows, maybe the builder did the number crunching to get an optimal cab. You'd think being sealed should make it an easier build.
Either way they'll only them as a set going with $200 for the cab and $450 for the amp for C$650 total which imo is pushing it a bit.

Yeah, it's kind of a reach actually. BWs are not going to be easily repairable any more as I think they've stopped selling replacement baskets, so there's one downside.
Any old Peavey amp is also now considered "big and heavy" in light of class D offerings, and their market value isn't high. I'd offer $450 for the shootin' match. I'll bet he's liable to at least come down some.
Still a great amp! But the market is leaving them on the table, for now.
The upside is you can repair them, what you might not be able to repair a Class D head. In my book, at the end of the day you're laughing if you're the guy with the Old School Peavey rig.

My MiniMax weighs 6 pounds and pushes 600 watts. I wouldn't be willing to put out that much cash for that old lead lined gear.

Lately I've been *still discovering* this beastie.
That modded Hamer bass, w/ Ric p'ups and guts, has a deep, clean growl through that setup. The Kappalite 3015s in those TL-606s might be part of that, but I really love the sound this machine delivers. Sweet, a little raunchy, deep and very punchy.
This is my choice for rock gigs, even if I do have to sneak past the manager to get it into the club, lol...
