Thanks for your reply. I found posts on it, and it doesn't sound like the same issue. Mine is static in the cab only when the headphone is plugged in. And probably is unrelated to the headphone volume issue, which is my biggest gripe. And if either Bobby or Peavey Customer Service gave any hint that I might have gotten a bad unit, I'd exchange it for another MM in a heartbeat.

Well I just got the MM this afternoon and had about 1/2 hour to check it out. It works, so I packed it up and got ready for work. Oh yea, the fan IS fairly loud in my music room but as soon as I started playing I couldn't hear it. Gig is a medium small room with good acoustics. Classic rock, soul R&B and blues. Power guitar trio stuff. First set I left everything flat or straight up whatever that is. The amp sounded great I could feel the extra watts filling out the sound or adding a little more "heft" as that is the word currently in vogue. So on to the second set. I tweaked the low mids and high mids for more punch. Sounded better yet to my ears. Then I remembered someone mentioning the Punch button. I turned that on and kind of went wow that kicks it up a notch! I'm Diggin it now. My high strings on the Minnieweather 5 had more substance to them and the low B was really big sounding. A bass player friend just came in on the break for his birthday and so he's playing now. It sounds real good in front and across the room. Very fat. I was initially concerned about using it with just 2 Bergantino 112's but I was careful getting levels and frankly it didn't seem like it was going to way overpower the speakers at all unless cranked. So I'm less concerned now than I was. Anyway I've got to go kinda keep an eye on it. But so far first impressions are quite positive. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Yes, that's me - I hit the button today on one of 2 Blems in stock at Zzounds. ...let's hope it's a good one :)

Nice score and warranty too? I got mine from a Sam Ash bricks and mortar store off of Reverb so might be on my dime for any future repairs. Big fat sound. I like it. I am down to this and the KXB500 and the Fender Superbassman. I need nothing more ever Really ...I mean it...LOL

I'm likely to use at least some of the bells & whistles on this amp at least once in a while. I hope to employ a little Crunch along with some Compression, and perhaps a touch of Kosmos now & then - they're all part of the reason this rig appealed to me as a non-pedal board player. A footswitch to control these functions is now available from Peavey (at about $80). Does anyone here have experience using that footswitch with the Mini-Mega? How well does it work? Thx, Tom

I just got to wondering about the footswitch my self today. I haven't ordered one yet. But I have a 4 button FS for my Shuttlemax, just looked at it and unfortunately it's a 5 pin and the MM FS is a 7 pin. So no go there, it would have been nice to save the money. I've had the SM for several years and never tried the FS once. I guess I don't really need one that bad anyway, haha. The Genz FS came with the amp but the MM is an up charge.

I looked at the footswitch for the unit. It seems like a generic MIDI interface that's used for several Peavey products. The assignments for each of the button are blank. I don't know if they are assignable, or (more likely) are already assigned and just need to be labeled. Since I'd like to try a bit of octave + distortion here and there while also hitting the strings pretty hard, I'd like to be able to kick in a compressor at the same time, just knowing the kind of power I might be unleashing on my poor 4 ohm speakers, given 1,000 watts on hand. I don't use outboard pedals except for channel switching on my GK's. Do you know if the MM is equipped with Peavey's DDT speaker protection circuit (which I assume is a limiter of some kind)?

The MM "blem" arrived quickly - kudos to Zzounds. Unfortunately, it makes very little sound, and what comes out is warbly and noisy to boot. Back it goes! Zzounds was very good about it, will cover all costs with a full refund. No harm, no foul, I guess. In fairness to all, this WAS an amp that was returned once already, hence the "blem" designation and pricing. Maybe Peavey will go over it this time. I see they are already releasing some "remans" for sale at a price similar to "blems". ...may be worth considering if you're in the MM market.

Was it a factory reverb or a "cosmetic" blem?

If the later, it was probably DOA from the start, and they returned a dead amp to stock. Happen all the time- I stay away from "blems" with amps as I've gotten burned the same way a couple times. :sour:

I called zzounds to ask about a blem. Maybe the same one TomB bought, as the website said "only one left".

The salesman said most - maybe all their blems are customer returns. He said they don't really do B stock sales. You would think they would check out the returned amp. The website says "in working order, like new, blah blah ..." (paraphrasing).

Anyway, it's great that they're taking care of you. What are "remans"?
