Peavey MiniMega 1000

I looked for a downloadable manual on the Peavey site but didn't find it.

I'm sure that Bobby is crazy busy, but if he or someone else could clarify if the effects return can effectively be used as a power amp input, bypassing the front end of the amp, I'd appreciate it.

Bobby, it you're able to answer my silly question about the pots, I'd appreciate that, too.

More questions:
Are the pots mounted to one of the circuit boards? I've read differing opinions on the implications of doing this. I suspect that they have been so mounted in most of the micros I've owned or just played - don't recall any catastrophic failures because of this (indeed, it seems more likely that something else would go wrong). Still, mounting the pots to the chassis with leads to the board seems a safer bet... Anyway, I'm curious about this.

Slightly off topic: are the stereo and selectable stereo/bridged mono versions of the power section available for purchase? I am nowhere near DIYing an amp - even a simple power amp - just yet, but I've thought about it, and the tiny poweramp has become a popular topic here of late.

Related: Is there a power-amp in? I see them less on amps these days. If not, how "clean"/uncolored is the effects return? Basically, can you use this as a small poweramp, bypassing the EQ and inherent voicing of the amp? I'm not necessarily expecting the amp to have this - most integrated heads I know, don't. It would just be a nice bonus.

Am slightly intrigued by the KOSMOS, even though I don't usually go for onboard effects of any kind - more so, admittedly, after reading that it's all analog.

They probably drafted those specs based upon the original units (shown at the 2014 NAMM Show). I am really glad that Bobby and crew listened to us and added the Aux In. I think it makes the headphone jack much, much more useable. :thumbsup:

Wow! Off the website at Peavey.com confirmed. I've been waiting almost 2 months for my new Ashdown RM-800 class D amp to ship. The buyer at the store I was getting it from was getting stonewalled on delivery. I found a guy at Ashdown to respond. They weren't scheduled to ship until mid May. But I guess I won't be tempted by the Peavey MegaMini1000 if it hit the streets before the Ashdown afterall. I will say, as a loyal Peavey user for 40 plus years, it is a travesty that a company as prominent as Peavey can only afford to put one guy on both Class D Power Amps and Class D Bass Amp development. This is no knock on Bobby at all. I appreciate Bobby's frankness and insights into the process. But to have management actually shelf the amp entirely? I wouln't be too surprised if they don't come back with "well marketing thought it had gotten such a black eye for being vapor-ware for the past 1.5 years that we are going back to the drawing board to come up with a whole new series....but don't worry so you old skool cats don't freak...we will call it the Festival Series after our old F-800B bass amp....." blah....blah....blah. Very disapointed in this. If you are going to the Summer NAMM, don't waste anytime at the Peavey booth. Nothing to show you. My day gig is as an Director of Ops for a Audio/Visual contracting firm in WI. Every year I go to my version of NAMM which is called Infocomm, I make a point to stand in the Peavey booth for about 5 minutes. I don't get a nod, a wave, a gesture that says "be right with you". I get ignored. At one time I was responsible for turning over $250K worth of Architectural Acoustics and Media Matrix products. Today I haven't sold anything by Peavey in almost 4 years. I had to stop using their DSP because I could never get anyone on the phone to help tech support through an issue in the field. And if I'm 2 hours from home, trying to troublehsoot an issue, I need to take care of it right then. At $90 per hour, my client is paying through the nose to have me out there, and to wait 2-4 hours, and sometimes NEVER get a call back, I abandoned using the product line. I still hold onto my love for my MegaBass, just not for the company.

Hunh. I pre-ordered mine a few weeks back. I don't usually pre-order stuff. I'll wait a bit to see what's up, but won't plan on playing it this summer. :/

No fault on Bobby here. If it's going back to the drawing board for some technical reason, by all means take the time to get it right. If for some marketing reason, please let the product development and manufacture lead the release date and not the other way around.

If this amp is well built and reliable to go with all the features, if the power section delivers (not "for a micro" but delivers, period), and if it sounds good (of course), it would be the new-amp deal of the decade, no joke. Only thing I'd wish for its the ability to dip below 4 Ohms, but that's not a deal-breaker for me.

I hope that Peavey doesn't give up on this amp.
