Peavey MiniMega 1000

Heavy is relative, but I get the feeling y'all aren't entirely serious. Nine pounds would be hella heavy for a gigbag amp, but for something you can throw in a small shoulder-bag, especially something that can (one hopes) serve as a capable and reliable main amp, I think it'd be about perfect.

Well, it weighs more than twice as much as an MB800 but, on the other hand, it weighs two pounds less than a Blue Soul. Then again, it weighs more than four times an MB200. But if you compare it to a Prodigy, it weighs less than a third of that. I could probably live with 9 pounds, but I'm going to wait for Jim Bergantino's amp to hit the streets. The MiniMega is a good-looking amp (it looks like it sounds great). I saw it at NAMM, but didn't play through it. Bowlus might have some insight - I ran into him as he was heading for the Peavey pavilion.

As much as I wanted one, I think I am finally coming to grips with the fact that I just don't have the cabs that I need for that head. Not ready to buy any additional ones at this time either. Simply don't have the need. The GAS rush was fun though....

The MiniMega really sounded great, but there's only so much you can tell when everything is a variable (bass, amp, cab, room, etc). It seemed very powerful and very versatile, though. I really dig the feature set, as well.

Then again, it's 1000 watts...

I would REALLY like to add one of these to my arsenal.

Yeah, I have 5 amps right now. 2 are combos. The other 3 can be mated to any of the 4 cabs I have. But, only 1 of my amps is a small SS. I would really like to get a MM1000 so that I can leave one rigged up at home for practicing there and leave the other in its bag, ready to throw in my truck and take to rehearsals.

Then just lug one of the tube amps to gigs (with the MM1000 in the truck for backup, in case the tube head croaks).

So, no news on this?

June 3 is now June 8 on the MF website. The amp *is* up on the Peavey website. I did not bother contacting Peavey.

I still have mine on order and still hope that it comes out in a reasonable amount of time and ends up sounding good and being reliable. If I like it enough, it could replace a couple of my smaller amps.

You definitely need to post a report once you get it (***if you don't mind***). Its between this head and a couple others for me, so any info I can get would be helpful.
