Peculiar Hobbies

I do 10mm miniature wargaming. First picture is an Elven army for Warmaster rules. Second picture is a couple of armies for the Warband rules set. Have much more stuff in the todo box. More armies for Warmaster, 3mm & 6mm WWII armor, 1/285 WWI air, buildings for 10mm & 6mm, scenery.

Is that a thing in the SC Mountains? I've seen a Macaw in '84 when I was living in Soquel. It seemed to live in a palm tree in the trailer park I was living at.
Not so much in the mtns, but around the bay area. There's a flock of wild parrots living successfully in SF - there's a documentary about them called "The Parrots of Telegraph Hill". Our group is first call when one of them gets sick or injured. Plus the many, many parrots that get surrendered. Dozens every month just in the bay area. www.mickaboo.org

How interesting is that?! I had no idea. I'll check out the docu when I get home tonight. Sounds intriguing.

My wife and I considered getting one years ago. Now, we're too old as it would outlive us!

That's one of the big reasons so many parrots get surrendered - owner/caregiver passes away (or goes into elder care) and the family can't or won't care for them.

My wife played that documentary for me. It was great. I was pretty sad about the one parrot that was a different type than the others, and always hung by himself.

I miss roasting my own; I used to roast on a cast iron skillet, though it was a bit of work. It reminds me of loading in/out at gigs: I don't like it but like it at the same time.

Oh wow, you're more old school than I was.
I started on a modified popcorn popper, then graduated to a one pound roaster. It's like a mini commercial roaster.

Collecting antique synthesizers has been an obsession until recently since I'm poor and everyone else is now doing it. You used to come across an ARP 2600 or TB 303 in the wild, glad I was there. I can only afford the cast off digital wonder synths now such as Yamaha SY99s and EX5rs and Korg Z1s and SDD-3300s.
Reading anything about the Byzantine empire also used to take up lots of time and thought, haven't come across anything new lately but that may be the brain damage and such.

I try to keep it under wraps - some people round here tend to get a bit over-excited :wacky: - but we do have a soft spot for these kooky cats,

They're making something of Link Removed. Can't be such a bad thing, boys and girls. But, then again, look out for this mob,

They'll be in-the-mix somewhere, as a consequence :(
