Pets and bass?

They get nervous when it gets to stage volume and slap/pop technique is applied.

We sometimes drag powered PA cabs outside here in boonieland to do work with music on. The cows seem to really enjoy classical(Vaughn Williams), Hans Zimmer, Nightwish, and similar.

My cat that I should have named "Nut Job" will freak out, run and hide if I get out and play my Dean. If I play my Fender Am. St. Jazz he does what he does best and sleeps right through it. If I play my G&L LB-100 he'll lift his head, give me a dirty look, and go back to sleep.

When it just me playing the dogs don't seem to mind. I'll get checked out from time to time.
When we have "rehearsal" here during football season. They do not like drums especially. When the whole band is going they tend to hunker down. My chorkie Junior Bubba Booger Bug tends to wanna be wherever I'm at. He'll make a few attempts to come in while we're playing. After I put him in his bed where he can see me, he's ok. My Australian Cattle Dog Jet can adjust to most any situation. They both know it's coming when they see me setting up equipment. The chorkie likes to direct this activity, as he is the manager of all activity.

the greyhound in my avatar loved bass, and also had seizures. if i was screwing around on upright he'd lay his head against the body. on electric he'd get right in front of the speakers. i have a bulldog who's always hated bass, run to the furthest corner of the house when i played. she was recently hit by a van and got a concussion. now she comes into the room where i'm playing unless i'm using headphones.

coincidence?

Biscuit (RIP) loved it. He also loved being sang to. Dewey (our old man) likes it too. I would play bass TO them. Dewey still wags when I do that. Moon (puppy #1), was scared to DEATH when I played "The Chicken" the first time. Now he doesn't seem care. He will howl when my wife sings. Echo (puppy #2)........is deaf. I play tones of different frequencies, volumes, timbres, etc to see if he can hear something. He's more like 98% deaf. When I find that 2% he runs around all excited. "DAD....DAD....I HEARD SOMETHING!!!!"

Not my own pet, but one of my teachers had a cat who would walk up and down the piano keys while we played through lessons. Apparently he always does this when people are playing in the room.

He wasn't a bad accompanist but played some pretty far out stuff.
