Bud, is that trans black, or deep purple?

Black. The flash is making it look purple. It's more silvery in person and darker.

Been meaning to get back to you. I didn't get your message until Sunday morning. I hardly pick up my cell anymore since I rarely leave the house. I couldn't have gone anyway. How was the clinic?

It was awesome! I took my bass-in-progress for Brian to look over, and he really liked it. He even asked if he could try it out once it's done. I will be shipping it to him once it's done and tested for a review. I might even accompany it! :) He really liked the changes I made in the contours. I asked if he minded having his design as the inspiration for mine, and he replied "Of course not!" He had seen the pics in my thread, and was blown away by the top wood- I got many questions about that!

His playing is as monstrous as ever. He blew a couple notes, and I can always tell when he does- I was front row, and when he blew a note, looked directly at me and we both cracked up! His "blown notes" are WAY more musical than mine! :D

Bud,

I got to play this one when its new owner paid me a visit this past weekend. I am most impressed with your work on this - and you captured the Dark Star tone magnificently.

I never thought I'd like a Swamp Ash bodied bass ... now I can say that I do :hyper:

all the best,

R

Oh, cool! Thanks for the positive comments. That's a fun bass. I love ash!

Nice! I've always loved that body shape.

The color scheme is really working. I could see that with pup covers to match the FB.

What are you using for that thick black lamination? It's so smooth looking, it looks like plastic in the pic.

Does that have and extra-wide nut, or is it just the pic?

Latest happenings...

A pair of VB-4's...the first one has a koa top, wenge accent, mahogany body with a single Dark Star pickup and an all wenge neck. The second one has an ebony top, maple accent and an alder body. It's getting a maple neck with an ebony fingerboard and headstock.

Also a TRX-5 with an ash body, walnut accent, walnut inlayed p/g in a curly maple top. This one will have walnut pickup covers, a maple neck, a birdseye fingerboard with macassar ebony edge binding.
