Post Your Pedalboard 25: Parcheesi!

Status
Not open for further replies.
A couple weeks ago, I was checking the "Basses" board, feeling completely happy with my basses and rig, suffering no GAS, but definitely getting bored reading the same ol' Fendery threads. Then, I decided (innocently enough) to check out the "Effects" section. After all, I've never really used any, so the posts at least would be interesting. Well...a little research gave me a little knowledge and bad case of GAS, which resulted of course in purchases from the "Classifieds," boutique builders, and a couple online dealers.

Figuring this stuff out and putting it together was a blast, and I'm having
fun finding a ton of great sounds. Still, I do think someone really
ought to write a sticky warning label for the top of this forum.

wow, 7 pedals, and power supply, in a few weeks? i wish i had the cash to spend...

Oh yeah, Dr. Scientist has a hilarious sense of humor. The circuit board of the RR(mini)R has a ton of hilarious things written on it.
"Come with us now on a journey through time and space" (If there's any other Mighty Boosh fans out there)
"In space...nobody can hear you scream......without reverb"
"Made in Canada, eh."
"radical really could be any color reverberator"
"SMD rules!"
"Space says hi"
"Canada calling R R R"
and a ton of pictures of the same robot that is painted on the Frazz Dazzler.

I wonder what else he writes on the other pedal's boards. :D

I bet for just three pedals you could do something sweeter than just a flat board! What about a "winner's podium" kind of thing... middle pedal is raised? Or a false bottom kind of thing... three pedals straight across with a secret compartment in the bottom. C'mon dude, you saw my pedalboard build thread. Build something cool!!! :ninja: ;) :D

5sg.

It's just a Black Russian Big Muff with two Hammond boxes sideways beside it. I need it by Friday morning so it is gonna be quick and dirty. Once I start building more I will make a real board. As it is this is only being used for worship and so I only need the two Hammond boxes, the Big Muff is just for fun.

Probably should've avoided Hell, and definitely should've been more responsible, but I do like the result, a lot. Great advice can be found all over this forum; many well informed, outspoken (fellow) lunatics hanging around in here.

Muddddddddddddd - what have you been using?

lol.... 'm too lazy to back look through pages.

No! you see if more people buy moogers then maybe moog will make more moogers....

Dude, welcome to the wonderful, endless world of effects chasing. I've been playing for 12 years and was simply getting bored with clean tone. I started finding it hard to motivate myself to play, and thus was not growing as a player.

I find the effects motivate me to play around more with my bass and keep me interested. I started spending more time playing and wanting to play when I couldn't (Work :spit:).

I feel effects can compliment an already good player by giving them a tool box of goodies to further their sound and expand their reach. Some may use them as a crutch, but if you're a crappy player it will still show through.

see? stuff like THAT makes me want to stab you in your Logic Box.

so, you little Moog Stimulus Package, if i was gonna start throwing monies at the Fooger of Moogers, what do you suggest as a starting point?

only one i've spent time with is the Midi Murf. dug it a lot. just didna fit me then.

murrrrrrr?

(the cake is a lie)
This was a triumph...
Seriously, every time I play that game (it's available for Mac now mind you, so I can bring it with me any time I want now. :D) I get the ending credits song stuck in my head.

Flash version of the game to entertain yourself with at work.
Oh! and Killer MINI Mutt!
Thank ya! I was just spending about an hour messing around with it through the headphones. Can't wait til the weekend when I can play around with it through the amp in a live setting. :D

You see the thing is moogers are like what they are based on modular synth components so you kind of have to know what you are shooting for and what sound you need. For me I started with the phase and liked it. Then the filter which after going though five other filters I just like the sound of it best, despite the bypass I just like it, I will even admit that it was the one I wanted in the first place when I started getting back into FX heavy a few years ago but do to the cost I didn't get one so I ended up buying a FX25, a Q-tron and 00funk first... And in the end it would have saved me time and money to have just got the moog because that was the sound I wanted. Then I needed a rigmod and I thought that since I already had two moogers and with all the CV control and whatnot it was my best choice. It took me a long time to be sold on the Freqbox, why, because there are almost no good demos of it where people get actually usable sounds for SONGS they just make noise... now I like noise but not the noise sounds most people were getting, the ONLY good demos are on TB and there are only two. I have been going further and further into getting synth sounds so I needed a unit that did what the FB does. And I have plans down the road to get another or even two so I could have more oscillators. But this is all out of a musical "need" for what I wish to do, I know that I'll end up spending about the same as getting a synth and that is fine as that is what I am shooting for.

But! What sound are YOU trying to get? See I really am the last one to ask "what new toy should I get" because even if it is impulse I always have a implied use or idea for a thing before hand. I have spent lots of time reading and reading and looking at vids and listening to samples and then reading more so before I get anything I have read up everything I can find on it. So again what sound do YOU need?;)

Dangit, I dunno WHY I didn't look! I always examine a pedal's innards when I have it.

All I have to say is HOLY FREAKING PITCHFACTOR.

Since I did just get the PF, and I'm selling the Groove Regulator, and waiting on my other fuzzes, I conjured this puppy up today for a new band audition:

It WAS inclined a bit, but it wouldn't fit in my bass HSC, so I flattened it, and it's STILL too tall (the pedal knobs impede). Rubber feet, 1spot.

edit: oops, forgot the angled shot:

It's a terrible habit of mine. whenever I get a pedal, I always look inside to see if there is a battery. Even knowingly when the device doesn't take one. :p

You like, I take it? :D
I'll get that aux switch to ya as soon as it gets back to me! Sorry again about the mix up! :atoz:
