Pre-CBS Fender Basses.. Let's See Em

Love your P bass!! Thanks for the compliment on my J. I don't think your crazy at all, I too think the Hacked up ones are fun to look at. They show all the love they have received. I paid $1,000 for it and it sounds better than any bass I've played.

That's a FANTASTIC price IMO, I actually got my 62 for $950 last spring...I still can't believe it.

Mine is a refin though (neck and body, but headstock has not been touched) and it also has a jazz PU added before I got it. The good news is the previous owner didn't add an extra control for the jazz PU (no extra holes in the pick guard), and it's wired V/V and hardwired to 100% full tone. I can't roll the tone back, but honestly, have never needed to. It's a beast with it's own character. And every time I pick it up, it reminds me of how incredible a pre-CBS bass can feel. Every other bass I own feels like a toy compared to this bass.

Here's an older pic...I put the original bridge back on since this was taken and but the BAII on my 75 P.

Wow! We both got amazing deals!! I love how ur p bass looks! I've thought about getting a actual paint finish put on this thing but decides that it's perfect as is.

I agree with ur statement about the feel of these old fenders, I own a 77 jazz, a custom made warrior, a Roscoe, a 90 stingray, & a 97 pbass deluxe. This 65 makes them all feel like toys. I can't believe it.
