I never understood the rabid dislike for rat fur.

I've always been curious as to why modern manufacturers still cover bass cabinets in bloody carpet.
Prefer tolex, but rat fur is not a deal breaker. Only thing is, my cats love using my current Rumble 15 as a scratch post. This annoys me.Just a quick poll to see what the general opinion is on rat fur.
I actually prefer rat-fur because of the durability. I toured for three years using cabs that were Tolex covered and they were just too easy to tear up, especially if you get "roadie" help from friends. Yeah, the rat fur can get a little frayed looking, but a quick trim with scissors or electric shears puts it back into shape. I'm usually pretty careful with my gear but I don't worry about the rat fur as much as other coverings when under hard use.Just a quick poll to see what the general opinion is on rat fur.
