Reiner Amplification Gasoline Bass Overdrive

What the heck -- this is from the Avalon resort gig. As I mentioned before the hollow plywood stage generated resonances and cancellations which were annoying where I stood, but I think the mix is fine out front.



Rig was Sadowsky P5 --> Tech 21 Oxford* --> Reiner VHF700 --> Reiner sealed 2x12. I sent pre-EQ DI from the VHF700 to FOH so I have no idea how much of the 2x12 made it into the videocam mic, but my onstage tone matched the video tone closely enough.



*I think I disengaged the Oxford around 1:20? (shrug)

P.S. We had three hours to fill, so all the tunes featured extended jamming. We had no idea we'd be thunderstormed out after an hour or so. Bummer loading out in the rain, but at least I got home early.

Caebass totally hooked me up.....#6 on its way! Hopefully his bass deal came thru. Great deal for both parties.

Cool thing is that it’s scheduled for delivery Saturday and I have a show that night. Should have a couple hours to dial something in. My Model feT will be here tomorrow. Never been so stoked over pedals before.

I could end up using my Mesa D800+’s power section only with the Gasoline and Model feT providing the rest. Too cool.

Damn, I cannot wait! I am definitely a touch sensitive, low gain guy. I’m assuming these 2 killer pedals seriously compliment the Mesa tone.

I’m trying to recall all the low gain pedals I’ve tried. Some good, some just ok, but none seemed to be perfect. Barbershop, Vintage Deluxe, Aftershock, Dave Hall VT, Paradriver, VT Deluxe and most recently The Pork Loin. I’m sure I’m missing a couple.

The bass deal came thru.
It spoke to me. I had to jump on it.
I’ll be looking to get a gasoline down the line. I’ll need it back someway or another.

With my band being alternative/rock with slight punk overtones, heavy dirt (at this point in time anyway) doesn’t fit. However, never know what the future holds.

Holy smokes that thing is sweet. Way too many string for me lol! Gorgeous. Soooo glad this worked out for both of us. If for some reason #6 doesn’t work out, you will be the first I get a hold of. The TB community needs to convince JGR to crank out more of these when he gets ahead of his new amps.

Not a sale I wanted to make, but short of buying a larger board and an Ojai to expand my Zuma power supply, I needed to make room on my board, and this was the only redundant pedal. You’ll dig it. Easily the most amp-like distortion I’ve ever owned, even beating out the often touted Fairfield Barbershop in that department. My current needs are for dirt that’s more pedal’y than amp’y. If I ever need something more amp’y I’ll be upset that I made the sale :p

Saturday my friend, Saturday. I’m just praying it arrives prior to 1600. My band has a show that night, and an early enough delivery allows me time to dial something in before we load out.

Well folks, the Gasoline arrived in time Saturday to toss it on my board and attempt to dial in a usable tone before we loaded out for our show. I also tried it in conjunction with my also new to me Model feT. The Gasoline is a lot fuzzier than I expected. Very fuzzy. Not the overdriven presence I was hoping for.

Fortunately, the 2 band’s ahead of us were, ummm, uck....so I hid in the green room and did some tweaking. Side note, and another reason I love the Mesa D800+, no speaker load required. Bass>pedal board>amp>headphones. I eeked out a pretty decent tone and played the show.

I spent a little quality time today dialing some sweetness. I was able to get rid of most the fuzz and get more of a overdriven tone. Very nice indeed. The Gasoline really kicks the Mesa up a level. Next, I’m going to have to try my Pork Loin into the Gasoline. Might offer more overdrive than fuzz.

Another side note, the MS60-B is only used for a tad of compression. I apologize for the messy board. Like I said, quick change out last night.
