Hey Gabbs, I did free beer back in the '90's. It was awesome, we had a sign for the bar to put out front on the sidewalk that said "Tonight only... Free Beer!" Yes we really knew how to pack 'em in! And the band did buy everybody in the bar a drink.

I was in a band that changed it's name for nearly every gig. We started as a two-piece by the name of 'Dick Splash and Wank Breath' (not our own choice - we hadn't come up with a name, so that's what the band we were supporting named us), became a four-piece and changed to 'And Then There Were Seven', next we were 'The Nicholas Parsons Experience', then 'Cassius Clay Pigeon Shoot' (my personal favourite), we did a few gigs as 'Pope Sandwich' before finally settling on 'The Cursed' whereupon we did one gig and then split up. :)

EDIT: And in answer to OP's actually question, the best name we turned down was 'Paul & The Pumpkin Pirates'.

I was in a band in the 90s that used the names of porn stars for gigs. We played as Rocco Siffedi, Peter North and the Randy West Band to name just a few. The guys thought it was hilarious. The girls thought our singer's name was Randy, Peter, Rocco or which ever name we were using that night.
