Rickenbacker 'getting outed'

My honest opinion, the way I look at it if there was no such thing as IPhones, Social Media & YouTube the world would be such a better place!!!!

I realize you're likely being facetious, but that's a pretty silly statement.

Phones? Being able to instantly speak to another person regardless of distance, and in most cases regardless of location, is a completely invaluable game changer of a technological advancement.

Social media? There are definitely negatives, but if anyone considers having to hear someone else's opinion that they don't agree with as the worst negative, then that's not really a valid argument. It also serves as a platform and voice for really talented and smart people who've been able to change the world and make it a better place.

Youtube? I wouldn't trade the convenience of Youtube for many things these days. Just yesterday, I was able to find a video tutorial to fix the exact problem I had with a motorized self cleaning cat litter box. If that's not an obscure thing to find a video guide on, I don't know what is.

I bought a nice fireglow 2016 about 6 months ago. Thumbwell (or whatever you call those things that cover the gapping hole aroudn the treble pickup) for treble end
whatever beautiful up scale chrome brass bridge. Kept it 2 weeks. Loved the sound, just felt like it was waiting for me to gig without a backup before it did something
treacherous, if you know what I mean.

Could never get comfortable with it, but sort of miss it. Now that I have 7 nice, higher end, dependable basses, I may get another Ric. Who knows?

Maybe they liked the way the Rick sounds and feels, and the "shortcomings" aren't issues for them.

Well, if they do their own maintenance, the issues would be a pretty good point in their decision-making process.
Your previous post went on like the guy was knocking them for being cheap or something, and while they're not boutique, they're also not budget-conscious models.

I'm sure there are techs out there who could point out the shortcomings of every piece of gear i own, but you know what? It still sounds great to me.

Look...the Rickenbacker hate threads go both ways here. I don't go into the Ric club and say "What about that odd bridge design though?". If you don't like bi-monthly "Check this vid out!" of Dave bashing the Ric, than don't participate.

Not all of us have the funds to buy top-of-the-line custom hand-made boutique gear, but we still like to play, so we do our best with what we can afford. If you're gonna crap on us for that, you can seriously FOAD.

My bass, rig, and effects cost me less than $2000 total, and I still get compliments on my tone from other bassists after every show.

Rics certainly aren't budget instruments. I don't think anyone has ever said anything that silly. Who is "crapping" on you? I think you need to re-evaluate the manner in which you comprehend what you're reading. I'll gladly crap on that Ric bridge.

I read over my post a few times, and I can't find the part where I made that claim...

I get sick of seeing gear snobs (like the guy who made this video) putting down others for using stuff that they like.

I got you, fam.

No, I didn't think people would care. I'm grumpy about EVERYTHING.
It's not One Oh Eight ($1.08), it's One ZERO Eight!

Because I’m afraid I’d screw the neck up. It’s a me issue more so than an issue with the bass.

I think it would be difficult to mess it up, all you need to know is how to measure neck relief.
Right now I wish I had the feature back. One of my basses needs extra relief on the E string side, to accommodate the G string side.
It's a minutiae difference, but one I wouldn't have with two truss rods.
I'm a bit quirky in that I like to keep the relief as small as possible (flat as possible).

Gotta love good ol' TB... I make a post saying that it bothers me when people put others down for having different opinions, only to be met with guys getting butthurt because my opinion differs from theirs.

I suggest you guys reread my first post and really take the "FOAD" part to heart.

Wouldn't the guy who keeps crying FOAD be the person who's butthurt?
