Rybski Basses?

I wonder if the quieting of this thread has gotten Rybski to sit back and relax? The fact that nothing has happened has got me going again.

Wasn't the last message from him stating that a check had been sent?

Chauncey is a much more patient man than I, as I'd have had to have acted by now. It takes a lot to push me over the top (well, sometimes), but this would have. I'd have seriously planned a vacation and confronted him face to face at this point. And then taken immediate legal action if I didn't get my money, or a bass. And at this point, I'd settle for a bass. I would actually consider stealing on from him :), as I'd have cashed checks as proof of purchase :) :). Or maybe I'd re-think that. I'd really like to see this have a happy ending, but I don't think that's going to be the case.

I hope at the very least the mods start a forum for unresolved bass builder issues. I think it would be an excellent resource for talkbass. If someone has the balls to do something this callous, people should know, and regardless of how great a builder they are - I believe they should be boycotted. I hadn't looked at Rybskis basses until about a week ago, didn't really care to. When I finally did, I was surprised bigtime. He really does make some awesome looking basses, and he would be someone I'd have considered somewhere down the line. I really liked what I saw, but there's not a chance in hell after this thread.

I in fact had some issues with a builder a couple of years ago on talkbass. And we went toe to toe right here for a little while, but all was resolved excellently. And neither of us had to really bend over backwards. We just communicated openly with each other, considered what others had to say, and ultimately resolved our issues. I had that thread removed. He's happy and still doing well, as am I. Eh... I'm rambling... taking a break from going over tunes, actually. I think it's time I rage quit this thread. When I find the right words, perhaps I shall....

Still nothing. I will however keep everyone posted. When it comes in and if it don't.

In the meantime, the conversation should still carry on.. this forum has enough seo juice to put this thread at the top, pushing him down the ranks. Right now this thread is ranking 9-12 for various searches ranging from - custom bass builders, wartrace Tennessee. ...wooten woods... to Rybski bass.

Best thing to do that would create an imprint online is to keep posting and notorize key terms from his website. The title of the thread should not be changed though because there's the possibly of confusing google. I could almost guarantee that by mid next week, this thread could outrank his site or come dang close. Potential customers searchimg for custom bass guitars in Tennessee would then see the Rybski review right in this forum about bass guitars.

Thanks to all for kind words and well wishes. There are a lot of good hard working instument makers out there to chose from. It is sad for the moment to have to dwell on the negatives but It's good to know exactly who your dealing with, especially when your giving someone your money!

Yeah.. I actually thought these were pretty much all hand made bass guitars in Tennessee. I thought the Rybski Phat Jam pickups looked pretty sweet but saw in earlier posts about the cnc machine. I could probably go toy friends corian shop and have those made in minutes on his cnc machine.

Just curious, what is the real relationship with Victor Wooten, Rybski guitars and this Wooten Woods Campground? I'd have to wonder what Wooten would say since he's all over the site..

I have been following this thread from the beginning and every time it pops up, it pisses me off again. Chauncey, for what its worth, I will never buy a bass made by Rybski! Not a new one. Not a used one. Nothing! That guy can take a leap, as far as I'm concerned. I do hope you get some satisfaction, however.

I would be deathly afraid to at this point. If his business has been severly affected at this point, for all we know he could be scrambling up his last deposits available to him, then close shop for good or at least until a year or so goes by.

It still looks as if there's no policies listed to his website on business practices, deposits, contracts etc... it's high risk.

From what I've been told by the camp themselves they just let him do a seminar like they do for a bunch of other people. In there own words they are not affiliated with Rybski.

I'd bet at some point, people at the seminar will become aware of this situation and obviously wonder... the site makes it look as though Vic Wooten is an endorser and that can be bad news reputation wise.
Ya maybe. Still it's a camp with victor wooten. What bass player wouldn't want to go and camp out with Vic and do music stuff! Sounds like fun to me, but of course I'm a big fan.

I'm pretty shure that I can't reply on the other thread, but I know for a fact that Rybski uses a CNC machine. He posted a picture of one of his bases strapped into the machine right on his Facebook page. The second I told everybody that he uses one, he took the "hand made" description off of his website. Before when you googled his name, the description under his bass and guitar sites said "hand made one of a kind highly customizable... ". If he would have told me that he used a CNC, I would not have given him money. Also that's why he makes physical mock-ups. He probably scans them into his computer with one of those video game things.

Looks cool! Too bad he didn't make me one. I got the "out of Townner treatment".

I know I said I wouldn't post here anymore, but I have to clear up the "out of towner" thing. Rybski is an hour away from me, so I'm an "out of towner" as well technically speaking, and I am Rybski's first Nashville customer in 18 years. Every other bass he's made has been for someone that doesn't live where I do.

You can post in my thread if you want to. Just keep it to comments about the bass I'm having built, and I don't think they'll be any problems. He didn't use a CNC on my bass. I am very sure of that. He has a template for his standard body shapes, but he traces that onto the wood with a pencil. I have a picture of that part of my build. He might have a CNC machine, though. I honestly don't know.

His place is a 17-18 hour drive from my place, one way. And in 18 years? The basses he made for sos and all the other players in Nashville he made 18 years ago? I have doubts about that. He talks to you so why don't you call him and ask him if he used a CNC machine. The inlay work on the pickups alone screams CNC machine.
