Pics of my nuts for you!
#2 is one of the better pictures I've seen of the too-long E/B string syndrome.

New addition white with a black one on the way...
There is a considerable difference between how 4 and 5 string versions sound.

I don't think so.
Well, there are some 4 string SUBs with the pickup in series, rather than parallel... so those do sound different. Is that what you meant?
Do you know what strings are on each? I really want to document the sonic and feel impressions of various strings that I like. It would be SO nice to know that if such n such bass has such n such strings on it now and I find myself wishing it had more presence or less or whatever... That I could just look things up and find my answer.
String material, and IMHO to a lesser degree brand (but still relevant), change tone SO much.
Anyhow, if your 4 and 5 sound notably different with identical strings and identical pickup wiring then it would be surprising, but certainly possible. Not necessarily 4 versus 5 though as much as bass versus bass.
I have no idea what strings are on there (bought them used). .ill have to restring it and start from there. But the 4 string is really out and punchy and the fiver a bit more mellow with a more scooped sound...
I'll gamble on nickel over steel on the 4 such as Dr sunbeams or d'addario XLs, with steel over steel on the 5 such as Dr hibeams or maybe coated like Elixirs.
Ok, finally got her finished:

Nothing personal but I never understand why people put barts in Musicman basses. It's like putting a Ford engine in a Chevy.
well...to me honest im not feeing that pickguard i know matching a blue bass can be hard...with that being said i think the best option would be black
The idea was to go ugly (I thought that would be glaringly obvious), since the stock pickguard was ugly. I just thought if it was going to be ugly, it was atleast going to be unique.
Meh, unique is stupid.
/goes back to playing his bass covered in multicolor trolls
