Just play the E & A strings on your regular bass and be done with it.

Short scale. Light weight. Smaller neck. I could have and would have used this a few years ago, right after my broken neck limited my playing ability. I'm still interested in one.

I think a 2 string bass would really challenge someone as a musician.

I have a 2 string Bogdon bass. You really have to think differently when you play it. Of course, it's nowhere near as sophisticated as the Sandberg. It's a fretless upright with a reinforced cardboard box for a body, tuned to A and D.

Would I buy one? No. I'm not even sure what the price is. The thing is if I did have one, I certainly wouldn't use it in the expected bass role, probably more like an erhu... or a bass erhu - with frets.

There are plenty of songs that rarely use a D and G string, and with enough technical ingenuity I could probably play the rest.

Damn, I've heard for years not to position my thumb like that!

He may also play mandolin, where the neck is cradled like that (took me AGES to learn not put my thumb on the back of the neck). The 2-string's fretboard doesn't look to be too much wider that a mandolin, either.

No more neck dive. Thinner neck. Lighter pickups equals lighter bass. I can see some problems where you won't be able to play octaves easily anymore.

Kidding, of course, not much room on the back of the neck for a thumb!
My thumb looks the same even with a regular 4-string.

Why not? This is a completely legitimate concept for a product. I'd bet that those here offering the harshest criticism would benefit the most from being locked in the shed with a bass missing some strings.

Hmm, an unlined fretless version would be a great exercise for ear training... I'd actually like one, but wouldn't want to spend much on it, for that purpose anyway.

I love these. They look great, and it definitely would be a challenge to play with the limitation of 2 strings!

It'll be light and won't suffer from neck dive. Should appeal to lots of folk on TB who want super lightweight basses.

Being a Sandberg, it will also be better quality than any 2 string bass that Fender ever built
