Sandberg Introduces their new 2 String Bass. Really? Why.

Yeah, this has nothing to do with metal bassist's, like anyone playing that style is some knuckle dragging Neanderthal mindlessly bashing roots and the open E string with a pick, it seems heavy metal is a easy target for the ignorant.....

Plenty of commercial/popular music is even dumber than the dumbest of metal bands musically, yet that stuff rarely gets attacked...

That being said, the bassist for the misfits played a 4 string E,A,E,A bass(not metal), and max cavallera from Sepultura played a 4 string guitar(he never plays leads)... Otherwise the President's of the USA are the only group to do this(bad alternative music)....
No, Morphine's bassist/singer also played a two-string instrument as posted numerous times earlier in this thread. And furthermore, your opinion of The Presidents is as insulting and biased as others' opinions of metal. Talk about the pot calling out the kettle... I thought you were above that Hintz.

Okay, I apologize if I came off as rude with the President's thing, I didn't really think before I posted, but that is just my opinion, that was like my knee jerk reaction to yet another attack on my favorite style, what i said was uncalled for and out of line, i was in middle school when the president's were popular, also when metal was the furthest thing from "cool", so i have negative memories of the whole alternative scene..... I also glossed over the morphine bassist, also not my cup of tea, but to each their own...

But I can't stand a wide ranging style like metal being associated with poor stereotypes, especially when very successful and popular don't seem to get the same flack, its like a bad, long running joke here... I'll admit that I was out of character with my respond though, sorry if i offended!! That's really not like me either...

I can see a few uses for this...

a) I am learning six string bass tuned EADGBE. After 20 years of playing four string it was jarring to learn how to do scales on the b string and e string. I could see myself tuning it B E and learning scales on those two strings. Even then, I'd want the G string on the bass so I can learn to transition from the highest string on the 4-string to the new B and E strings...

b) for absolute beginners, in short scale, it might be good to acquaint them with the instrument without overwhelming them with too many strings.

However, I think you might as well get a 4 string and be done with it.

Not a great idea, in my view. Not sure what the practical benefit is really, I'm reaching.

It is not like you, and thanks for apologizing

This whole thread is a troll thread. I wonder how many of the guys posting 8th grade humor about the 2-string bass are also the guys who sneer at 6-string and more basses as well.

Agreed, this is definitely a troll thread just by the title alone.....also, Nothing wrong with a 2 string OR a 10 string bass, me, I dig 4 strings and that neck looks very uncomfortable to me
