I had a reuben at Schilo's deli in San Antonio a couple of years ago....it was a life-altering experience. The BEST reuben I ever even thought of.

Give the bakery a call. In the late '80s we all lived in Los Angeles where Kurt worked at La Brea Bakery with Nancy Silverton; this gave Kurt something to add to his Zürich roots and create even more interesting products. My sister met him while in Mexico; Kurt was traveling with a cousin there.
Speaking of this - have any of you tried Elvis's favorite - fried peanut butter and banana sandwich?

I make my own lately. Usually roast beef or sliced turkey on Dave's bread, with spinach, chipotles, some pickled carrots, and then some chipotle sauce to hold it together. It goes into the tupperware container with a couple pickled jalapenos, a couple carrots, and a kosher dill. It's bliss, every day at a little after noon.

My favourite sandwich is from a coffee shop chain called Costa Coffee (it's like Starbucks but it has a dark red and white logo). They have so many sandwiches in packets which can be heated up. I absolutely love Cumberland Sausage with caramelised onion and cheese, lovely (for those who don't know, a Cumberland sausage is a long sausage that comes in a spiral shape, very nice). Though it's £3.90, expensive for a sandwich, that's the only put off. I also like a Brie cheese and onion sandwich.
If I go to subway, I either have Big Beef Melt, or Spicy Italian (it's not that Spicy, the name is misleading for some reason, it's just pepperoni and chorizo).
Now I'm hungry...drool.

Katz Deli in Woodbridge Connecticut. Pastrami, corned beef, tongue, etc. My arteries can only handle it about once a year, but worth the wait.

I think we've established that a sandwich must be contained within a a leavened carrier, baked separately from the sandwich innards. This would disqualify calzones, empanadas, pupusas, samosas, fruit pies, dumplings, tacos, burritos, pitas, and finally, wraps!
Leavened bun, baked separately from the wiener? That's a sandwich!
Pig-in-a-blanket? Not a sandwich.
If you split it long-ways down the middle & put it between 2 slices of bread, is it?A hot dog is not a sandwich, it's a hot dog!
About pigs-in-a-blanket? Those are not sandwiches because the bread portion is baked along with the innards. If we accept that as a sandwich, then calzones and empanadas are sandwiches too.

I don't know what the blanket is made from. Could be foreskins for all I know.
Unless it was harvested from the Pillsbury Doughboy, those don't qualify as bread nor are they even bread-like!

BTW, I meant disagreements about hot dogs being a sandwich, but you knew what I meant.
