Looking for some input on the SLS Elite 4 basses. I am close to pulling the trigger on an Evil Twin. Unfortunately since I am lefthanded I had no chance to actually try the bass. I have seen a few videos online and all focus on the pickups which sound great and versatile. I am more concerned though, about built quality. If anyone has any experience with the SLS Elite-4 models please let me know what you think.

I bought two Schecter basses, the second site unseen. The second was a bstock model. I can't really figure out why it is. Both were as good as any other stock bass as far as setup and build quality I have ever seen. Schecter does an exceptional amount of QC and engineering to make sure that they feel great. The rolled fretboard edges and fret work are just as good as other basses I have played that cost signficantly more.

i wouldn't be concerned about buying a new schecter online. their build quality and consistency is very good.

yeah, i have to think about what i say online because it's published forever. i have faith in schecter but not used sellers. therefore i try to be specific with statements of opinion.

I have this but in righty, and I love it. I bought it "used" from Sweetwater, as it was demoed or something. No issues or marks or anything. Was like it was brand new out of the box.

I own 3 Korean made Schecters and I agree with everybody else on the superb built quality. Can't find a single flaw on anyone of them. More knowledgeable people in this thread can probably dime in on the factory, aren't they also building the ESP guitars?

However, there was recently a review of a Indonesian made P5 here, which wasn't to positive on built quality. Made me wonder if others have the same experience with Indonesian made Schecters.

The SLS Evil Twin is Korean, so I'd wouldn't hesitate buying it online.

Well, I am now the owner of this gorgeous Schecter SLS Elite Evil Twin 4. Looks, feels and sounds amazing! I am glad I listened to all of you about the quality of Schecter basses. Posting some of my pictures as well as some that Sweetwater sent me since they are done professionally vs. my phone pictures.

Yeah, it was def. about the finish. I use mine all the time, it's my main gigging bass. Still have to clean the dust off frequently.

Been finding myself GASing for a CV-5 lately. Looking for something that's reasonably close to the playability of my Ibanez SR (narrow string spacing, good neck), but with a more classic and growly tone.

Anyone have any experience with the CV series? I'm hesitant to go passive, but I can always add a pedal preamp if I need it.

I really like the look too. Classic styling, but not just another P-bass.

I actually ended up going a different route and found a good used deal on a Sandberg VM5. At the moment my needs are met, but I'm still curious to try out a CV5 at some point.

After pulling my usual shtick by going radio silent for almost a year after posting here I do have a small update on that J-4.

I took the advice from one of the helpful replies and bought the proper replacement Sung Il bridge in gold from ebay.

I also added a unique touch by adding a 2nd mono out through the control plate. With that addition I can run the bass through 2 amps without an ABY box. I had the chance to test it out against a Rickenbacker 4003 when I still owned the matte black model and IMO the Schecter really impressed me going up against it in a stereo setup. Using cords does get awkward given the output placements so I am looking into getting one more wireless unit to solve that little issue.
