Schecter Owners Club, part 3

Never seems to end,I managed to get my Schecter Robert DeLeo signature Model T back today. Should be here sometime this week,on the brown truck? I have had

three Model T's in the last couple years,but none of them had the signature,on the back of the head stock,like the one I am getting back. The signature Model T,should be the keeper? Time will tell,right? I forget what my Club member was at the time? Could go back through the previous post,and find it,I guess? Found my previous Schecter Club Member #374,if I can retain?

If I am not mistaken, Robert's first Model - T with a rosewood fingerboard was white. Might have been trans white. Congrats on getting your bass back. There's been a lot of variety in the woods and finishes of this model over the years.

The finish on the back of the neck is fantastic. I don't know what kind of paint it is but Schecter has a hit with this stuff. It's similar to the neck paint on the Sam Bettley model I have but I like the Stage 5 finish better. Super smooth. I chose the Stage 5 over the Studio only because I have basses with active and passive EMGs and wanted something different with the Schecter Pups. I also prefer the ebony fingerboard and liked the idea of an active passive switch. I found out the hard way there's no EQ in passive mode, duh, but sounds amazingly well. It's real close to active set flat. These pups are some of the most versatile I've had. Pretty quiet too, dead quiet in passive. I intend on being frustrated practicing with a 5 string at first but hopefully it'll get better.

I had to give an update on the new Stage 5. Before Greg Curbow died I lived down the road from his store and remember going in there and playing his basses before I actually started playing bass and thinking, I want one of these someday. They played like a guitar being so easy to play with the strings so low and even with no fret buzz. The strings seem to be about the same height on the 1st and 24th frets. Well, after 9 basses, I think I've finally found what I've been looking for. I can't say enough about this bass only that now I want the 4 string version as well. This is by far the best bass I've played perhaps short of a custom Curbow. It has all the features I prefer, 35" scale with a killer B, active/passive, ebony fingerboard, glow in the dark side markers, flat 16" radius, extra jumbo frets, thin neck, neck thru, string thru. Sounds great. Looks good too.

Believe it or not I had one that was a gift from my female manager of my band I was in at the time....My insane girlfriend got all bent out of shape about it so I got tired of the bitching and sold it and she replaced it with a Dale Stewart model....After I finally got smart and dumped her ass I traded that bass for the BlackJack bass......

I don't much care for the Hot Bassline pickups in my new Butterscotch Model T. Funny, I've been debating on getting the MA 78 MonsterTone Set or the Active (APJ-1) set. I'll probably cheap out and go Active. I already have the Active P in my dUg Bass and it's awesome. I'd love to have another set of the MA 78 MonsterTone's but I can't justify the cost.

She's a beauty ! About a year and a half ago I found one Identical to yours at Guitar Center, Dayton, Oh.. I walked away from it but, went back to get it a few days later and it was gone. I shouldn't have adjusted the neck or should have put it back with a bow the way I found it, LOL.( I was there to pickup a used Cabronita P Bass and had a set of Allen wrenches in my back pocket). The setup was terrible and probably the reason nobody had bought it. I believe screwed myself out of it by adjusting the neck.

Your going to love the MA 78 MasterTone's, they are awesome. If you decide to upgrade the Bridge, I'd sugest you check out a Babicz bridge. I put one on my dUg Bass and have them on 2 other P Basses. Got one on the way now to go on my Butterscotch Model T and should arrive in a few days. Babicz Bridges are very stable and will eventually have them on all my instruments save the Michael Anthony because it won't fit down in the bridge rout.

Please post an update when you get the MonsterTone's in it.

Do you remember how much the Schecter was at Guitar Center?

The MA 78s just got put in today. I'm going to have to wait until Wednesday before it can go out with FedEx. After hearing the samples on youtube of these pickups, I knew I needed a pair. Thankfully, I got a really great deal on them.

GC had it marked down cheap like $225, if I remember corectly and they said it had been there awhile. I wish I'd have adjusted the neck back to where I found it. It just needed adjusted and was probably the reason it didn't sell. At the time I didn't have any $$ to put down on it. I was bummed when I went back to get it. I screwed myself.

I want to know how you got a great deal on the MA 78's ??? PM me if necessary. Like I said, I'm torn between the MA 78's and the Active set (APJ-1), $269 vs $175.

Will you give a report on how you like the MonsterTone's and let me know if your MA 78 set actually has the Brass Bases on them when you get it back? I would expect them to. The set that came in my production MA don't have the plates on them but, my P was a little over-wound @ 13K and it's wicked. There is a metal plate's in the bottom of the cavities but it's not Brass.
