Same here, just bought a new Schecter. Came double-boxed, with the bass itself inside a protective foam bag, and wrapped in bubble wrap.

When they don't include a hardcase or a gig bag, this is how they come from the factory to the dealer. What happens after that is between the dealer and the customer.

They've improved their packing, then...I watched my then-brand-new '08 Stiletto being unpacked from a plain-vanilla cardboard shipping box containing four individually-packed-in-the-wedge-box basses. I suppose that could be considered dbl-boxed, but the outer box had no padding, etc...just the wedge boxes.

Also, if you're buying from a big box store like MF, you may or may not get a factory-fresh item.

MF once sent me a "brand new" bass in a box with no packing materials whatsoever, just the bass bouncing around in an empty, re-taped box. It also reeked of cheap cologne. Unbelievable.

When I picked it up at Guitar Center, my Hellraiser 5 Deluxe was packaged just like the one in the picture. However, having worked in the GC warehouse for many years, I know that pretty much all instrument manufacturers pack this box inside of a sturdier, rectangular outer shipping carton.

Hey guys, my Stiletto Studio is one of the older bubinga top models with two volume knobs in the preamp. Does anyone know how to re-wire this to include a Master volume and blend pot? Thanks.

Also, does anybody know somebody who knows.....someone selling a six string Stiletto?

Just picked up my first bass, fell in love with the stilleto custom-4 on sight.

I just can't seem to figure out what the knobs on this bass do!
I loved the sound in store, and played around a bit, but was so excited to be finally picking up a bass, I just wanted to get home and didn't ask any questions -

I looked up a wiring diagram from schecter but their labels of the knobs just don't seem to make sense... but I'm just speculating!

Can anyone be nice enough to enlighten me what the knobs are, as pictured?

1-I think is the master as when it's at 0 there's no amplification whatsoever
2-4 all have the "midpoint notch" in their radius of motion. so I'm assuming these are the neck/bridge/and active eq blend
knob 3 on max (all the way left if you're playing the bass) creates an almost inaudible static-y hiss on the amp as well, so I assume this to maybe be the active eq?

stix - you'll need to replace the pre to get vol and blend, unless I'm completely off. You probably have passive vol/tone x 2 now, right?

Well actually the pre is active, so 2x Vol, bass, mid, and treble. I was considering replacing the electronics anyways, but this seemed like a good project to gain a sine soldering knowledge. Thanks for the response.

Finally getting around to posing a picture. Stiletto Elite 4. Mudd is right. The top controls the pickup blend. Left side or top looking down controls volume. Right side controls high end, and bottom controls the lows.
