Schecter - your opinions

Schecter's are great. I have a Studio 5 & 4 and a hard to find Diamond 005.
Check out my bands site and you will see many photos of both Studios in action.
Sound great play great. For the money one of the best buys you can get.

Well I didn't try a Schecter, I'm sure they're killer basses. But I took the Ibanez SR500 to it's
first band practice tonight and I was diggin' it after all, I wasn't sure about the skinny nut width
(a lot different than my Alembic Epic 4) but this thing is comfortable, ergonomic and easy to play.
Sounds damn good with the Barts especially on the drop D stuff we do. The Epic cuts in the mix
better but it's pretty good. I think I've found my drop D bass for now.
The guys in the band liked it.

Not tryin' to rain on the Schecter parade, just giving an update.
I think I'll keep this one -Carry on.:)

im left handed, i had a EB MusicMan Sterling for about 9 years, a year ago i bought a schector jazz (diamond J i think) bass copy... sold my EB on ebay a few weeks ago. super comfortable and sounds great. almost 1/3 of the price as well...

That says it all really. The schecters look fantastic to me and Im getting lots of good feedback about em. Some mixed, but it sounds like they will do what I want em to. We mostly pla rock and metal, so Im looking for a bass with a heavy tone, a bit of growl in it, but maybe still able to get a nice fat tone from time to time. I know it depends a lot on the full signal chain, but I like a versatile bass.

Id still really like to try one, but online stores are a pain like that. maybe ill just scan youtube and see what comes up.

The truth is, Schecters are a great value. I got a Raiden Special 4, that thing cuts it has great tone (those superrock pickups are ballsy), plays great and feels great, mine have fantastic low action. 349 dollars, with a lifetime warranty. How can you seriously beat that?

I've been buying, returning, selling, and trading basses for 2 years now trying to decide which make is the best for me. As most know GC only carries a small variety, mostly Fender, MM, and Ibanez, in our local store. I've owned and played just about everything from a Ric to an Ibanez Mikro and, for me, Schecter comes out on top!

I ended up with a Studio 4 Honey Satin, and. Stiletto Extreme. What happened to the Riot? At one time it came in the natural color and was much more expensive. Now they come in blue or black and can be got for $349.00!

The only bass I haven't been able to try and was wondering about were the ESPs, especially the 'B' Anyone ever tried or owned any? If so, how do they compare to the Schecters? Thanks.

Jack

My main bass is an Alembic Epic 4 I bought 17 years ago and haven't been able to find anything that tops it for me yet.
But I'm searching for a cheaper backup bass that will come close. I just picked up a new Ibanez SR500 to try but I'm not liking the skinny nut width or the overly active sound that I didn't notice till I got to try it through my rig.

I can still return it, so I'm thinking of trying a Schecter Stiletto Studio-4.
So what are some opinions on this Schecter?

Just bought a Honey Satin. Love it!!

Like all the lower end models from the various brands, they are churned out on assembly lines next to LTDs, Peaveys, Ibanez, Yamaha and all the others by Samick or Cort. But the higher end basses are individuals where they have very little in common with other brands. Just look for a "C" shape line where the factory glues the headstock to the neck; that's where the factory puts the brands logoed headstock on a mass produced body and 2/3rds of a neck. If that lines not there, you have a better quality instrument.

I can recommend the stiletto custom series. My 4 string is great and I can get a lot sounds. I'm looking for something else now but as my first bass after a walmart bass, this baby has been with me for years and NEVER given me a problem. After a set-up a few weeks ago it was brought to the best playability it has ever been to. Great value and sound. Reliable.

I've been looking for good Precision bass / jazz hybrid for a long time.

I've been looking at the Fender and Squier lineup, but in my opinion they keep missing the perfect "blend" of old styling, and modern components. Its either buy a Squier and mod the heck out of it, or spend the cash and buy a Fender.

And then I found this.

I new these were around for a while,, but you dont seem to see to many of them. I gave it a second look this weekend and bought one. It will be delivered Friday,, I will post a review with plenty of pics.

Looks to be a good looking bass with good components. I hope I'm right.

I have played one schecter diamond series 5 string bass and really liked it. The guy selling it has a similar 4 string schecter and I always liked the tones he got out of it. The EMG pickups and preamp were very nice.

I didn't end up buying the schecter 5 string and held out for a MM sterling 5 SH. Frankly I didn't like the look of the schecter or the color. Now that I have the Sterling5, I find it has more tonal variety than I got out of the schecter and I find it fits me better. I still think I would have been happy with the Schecter 5....

I have owned two, and I ultimately decided that they were not for me. That being said, I think they offer exceptional value for the money. It also depends on what kind of sound you are going for.

So in light of that, what sound would you get on a Schecter? Not music styles, I'm more asking what adjectives you would use to describe their tone.

Other opinions on the Schecter Diamond J bass appreciated. I am just a beginner. I have a Radian Elite 4 that I really like but it's time for a jazz bass just to make things interesting. I am leaning towards it vs. the Fender MIM jass bass. Thanks.
